I can only get 15 Gallons in to my tank

Just wanted to know if anybody had this problem and if they were able to correct it. Orlando Infinti already changed the cluster thinking it was the gauge but that did not fix it. Would like to have more info before i bring it in next thursday. Anybody?

Also i drove from the Florida Mall all the way to the Colonial Exit on the 408 towards UCF with the gas light on and still was only able to get 15 gallons in. The gauge does not read FULL either, goes up to a lil above the 3/4 mark.

Thanks for any help.

Mo,

I think Pimpinpearl had this same problem. It seems to be the older G's are having this problem more than the newer ones. That's about all I know. Good Luck!

PS- Are you going to the Lokey Meet on March 5th? Maybe John will be able to help you out!

Its a VERY VERY common problem and last I heard no one figured out what it was. All I can say is I had the problem (which was at half a tank) for most of the early months i had the car and havent had it in a long time. Seems to go away on its own...

BUT there are a couple tricks to fill it up:
1) barely hold the nozzle on the pump and it wont click itself off as easily
2) turn the nozzle upside down or sideways

for more info do a search and u should get alot of results...

be careful on barely holding the nozzle...i filled up at a hess gas station off of university, near ucf. i had the nozzle pumping automatically (i had the lever stuck in place) and the pump never stopped pumping. it ended up overflowing all over the side of my car. i was sooo pissed. i spent more than an hour looking for a hose to wash off the car and was also 20 minutes late to work. grrrr...

I had the same exact problem on my 350z before I got my G, something about a faulty fuel pump sensor and they were going to fix it, but nissan bought my car back before that happened. Probably the same thing you got going on.

This thread is a jinks! I didn't have this problem until the last 2 fill-ups. Now I can only fill-up to 3/4 of a tank.

yea, i had the same problem, they changed the cluster...it filled up fully once, then back to 15 gallons(i have to really try for that 15th) so I think I am going to call Lokey and see what they recommend.

There's a thread on G35Driver I think in the coupe forum about this. Someone was saying it's the sending unit. Hey John (Mr. Lokey) what's the shop service schedule like on the 5th??

what you have to is actually stand on your head while pumping it and you will be able to fill your tank all the way up. i know it seems crazy but it really works.

try it and let me know
