Time for another CFL Dyno Day...

Lately I've been taking some heat in the Technical and Modifications Forum about the "Plenum Spacer" vs. the "Crawford Plenum". I really want to find out which of these two mods works best with the Crawford Headers and the Crawford Cats.

G35Sean is the ONLY person in the FGC that will have the Crawford "Total Package" and he's the only one who can help me out. Adam has generously offered his spacer for a dyno test, so we'd just need to see if Sean would donate his G...

This next CFL meet (the one at HIN) is not really my cup of tea and I'd like to suggest an alternative meet. A DYNO DAY! Instead of sumping $27.00 at HIN, plus $7.00 for parking how about taking that money and having another dyno day?

Who would like to do what? Post below with your name and which you'd like to participate in...

Dyno Day:
1. Neffster
2.

Hot Import Nights:
1.
2.

I will come too, but I need to get the spacer for this test. Todd, you are sure getting flamed for your questioning, that why I didnt join in on the debate. Hopefully this test can help to clear some stuff up.

I've got those dingleberries right where I want them.

1. Tony apparently doesn't know much about dynos. He hasn't mentioned engine oil temps once.

2. Tony has already refused to post his data (probably because he never collected any)

3. Both the 1/4", the 3/8" and the 1/2" spacers BY RULE cannot all "balance air flow" equally. There MUST be a pressure drop from the back to the front cyllinders on a minimum of 2 of the 3 concepts.

4. I would bet that the Crawford vs. Spacer dyno was rigged (whether intentionally or not). The first dyno run is always lower than the second, which is lower than the third, etc... Why? Engine Oil temp drastically affects output hp. Cold oil = low hp. The Crawford plenum was probably dynoed first. It was probably ran once, twice, maybe 3 times then the spacer was put on. Those pulls helped to warm up the engine oil... My guess is that the spacer was then added and then the car was dynoed another 5+ times to get the car good and hot and this lead to the spacer showing the "great results". (This is just a hunch and I could be wrong, but after reading the comments in their posts, this seems reasonable to me).

5. Doug is sending me his flow bench test data today. I'll post that and PROVE what Doug has been saying is correct. This can only mean that Hydrazine (Tony) is incorrect when he says his spacer "balances air flow". If he's wrong about this (reads lying) then he's probably wrong (reads lying) about the dyno results too.

THIS IS WHY I WANT TO DO OUR OWN TESTING. Doug Stewart has already done his own spacer dyno testing and even he admits that it does help some, just not as much as the plenum! Which is what I've said from the start!

That thread is going to get really interesting later today or tomorrow, stay tuned.

edited: BOY DID I SCREW UP BY POSTING THIS. THE EASY THING TO DO WOULD BE TO DELETE IT, BUT THAT'S NOT RIGHT. I'LL HAVE TO TAKE MY LUMPS LIKE A MAN THIS TIME...

I would like to go to the dyno day but I would also like to go to HIN. Why don't you plan the dyno day on a different weekend so the people who want to go to HIN can do both.

Hey Guys, I know most of your G's are custom modified and want your ride fine tuned but, I would really be interested in HIN because I've never been-yea it's more expensive but, we have montly meetings and HIN only comes to Florida once an year, we can dyno our car anytime during the year, right? I would rather dyno my car closer to home like Brandon, Fl. with SFLG35 instead. I guess anything would be O.K. as long as we all stick together though.
