I have tried three different sources to find out the actual manufacturer of Infiniti's paint. Matching the LS is proving to be a real pain in the rear or front....... PPG isnt it and even with the code we are still not sure if it can be matched............. Man maybe silver wasnt so bad after all.........

I think you should find another installer/shop. Especially if you are having this much trouble. If there is a problem with the match, they should use the PPG paint code as a starting point and work from there. Cause if you are going to give up on the kenstyle kit, you are basically going to have to give up on all body modifications. Doesn't seem fair to you.

not one but two shops told me PPG is not a good choice when it comes to color match. I trust Richard to get it right but its not fair to have him try several types of paint manufacturers as well. I am hoping Infiniti might come through and let me know who the actual manufacturer is

ZPresence aka Rob @ Custom Paint Works, has figured out that Nissan uses Dupont paint. He gets your vin# and order paint specific to your car and it matches perfectly. He's in the middle of doing my Nismo kit now. I'm not sure if he's tried it on an Infiniti yet. His shop is over in Cocoa Beach

I've met/talked with this guy before at a past Zfest. He lives near Stoney Brook and has a shop in Cocoa Beach. I was originally going to go to him to repaint my bumper, but his shop is far away. He was one of the first guys to paint a kinetix plenum and make it look like chrome metal and painted maximumsportz's kit (he'll be at the dyno day). He posts as "Zpresence" on 350zfrenzy.com

I used a shop in Clearwater, Frank's Body Shop. 727- 573-2639, 12405 49th street north.

They did work on my '02 Maxima and my '03 G, and you would never have known anything wasn't the original paint. Matched perfect! These are old school, take pride in their work folks. And they are AAA aproved also, which is how I found them. I would recommend them for someone who is looking for quality work.

Good luck with the car.

Just to be perfectly clear, this is not a "lack of ability" problem that Aleic is having with Richard. Richard can do ANYTHING! He's really that good. The problem is that he's having a super tough time getting a PERFECT match to Aleic's color. Most other body shops would have told Aleic that the paint job is "good enough" and sent him on his way long ago. Richard is a PERFECTIONIST! It took him 3 tries to get the Ivory Pearl color PERFECT. He had his wife custom make the color (because light reflects differently on painted steel, aluminum, fiberglass and plastic). All of these body kits go up against aluminum parts and the reflective properties of the paint APPEAR to be different with the EXACT SAME COLOR applied.

Richard's only problem is that he can't custom make a color to match IDENTICALLY to another part of the car made from a different material without knowing the EXACT brand of paint used (since no two paint brands are identical with their colors and tints).

Hope this makes sense.

Todd is absolutely 1000% correct this is NOT an issue with Richard. The color matching is being made difficult by the fact that certain manufacturers do mix differently. PPG is commonly a very difficult paint to get a match regardless of how good you are. I am going to try some other suggestions to get the actual paint.

Rob's # is 321-720-7383. His shop is right off the beeline in Cocoa, about 45 min. Don't bother him while he's painting my kit. j/k

Maybe A Solution
That Richard rocks. He found the manufacturer of the paint so it looks like it will finally be matched
