I think the lokey deal you guys have going should be advertised more, that might get your membership higher. I've been on the forums for a few months, and didn't hear about it until a few weeks ago. After I did, it was a no brainer...Its a great incentive for joining.
the lokey deal is a reward for members, we dont want people to join just cause of the lokey deal. Good luck buying a g, lokey is the best infiniti dealership in FLa, i've been to all three in broward county and they all suck. Had a great experience w/ lokey and i would buy another car from them in a heart beat, even w/out the VPP.

Value Proposition

It's all about the value proposition and how to market!
The following is right off the site. Is this very exiting to you? How often do you buy a G to take advantage of the VPP? What else could we say to make this stronger?

What you get!!
General Members are guaranteed:
Florida G35 Club membership effective March 5, 2005.
A Membership Card - So!!! should not be the 1st item on the list.
An assortment of discounts that our sponsors offer - Strong Value
Ability to be a part of any club event (local or state-wide) Wording change to: +or- Multiple club events to network w/ manufacturers and other members.

Premier Members are guaranteed:
Everything general members get
One Club T-shirt per member - Good
Eligibility for the Lokey Infiniti Vehicle Purchase Program - Very powerful
What else can we say? Discount at events?

1st of all I think we all agree that free stuff has no value! IMO funds should be used for event promotion and if there is food, there should be a nominal charge to cover cost but certainly much higher from non-members.

As a suggestion for the "value proposition" at the meets we could have DIY seminars as a service to the membership. In fact, I bet that manufacturers are willing to put up a booth or table top displays. We can charge them (exhibitors fee) for that too. Then this really brings value, just not a meet and greet, we can do that anywhere w/o a club.

Think about it. Accessories, hard parts, chemicals, AV, tints, clear bra, etc. exhibiting their products and providing tech seminars. Now that's something that has value.

Give away via raffles should also be on the web-site. This is another area where manufacturers love to spend their funds.
This could be done 1/yr as the main club event which would be the largest fund raiser at least to support the rest of that years events.

Or as a membership drive suggestion, "Join and be elible for a certain raflle giveaway."

I'm sure you all have more ideas. Be glad to help in anyway.

BTW, I paid for a premier membership and i'm listed as a general member.

Where are you listed as a general member? The club website? If so, send dabomb a PM and he'll fix that. I have someone fixing your title now...

Also, copy this post and PM dabomb. He can make some of the changes you recommended. Thanks for the input!

I agree that $40 is inexpensive for a membership fee, especially with all the benefits we get and $40 should be affordable for us Infiniti owners, but the point is that I feel that they just don't want to spend that much if all they want to do is attend our gatherings. "too expensive" is all relative. Even though a Kia is inexpensive, you don't see me wanting to buy one...

When the intro price was $25, how many signs did we have per month as compared to when the fee was $40?

Escobar, yes, we do get a t-shirt, but it would be cooler if there was some kind of package that wasn't just a t-shirt. People love packages. I think more people would join for $40 if we gave them something right off the bat with a package worth $10 with a shirt, decal, and some car cleaning item - and post a nice picture on the website. We at least need to put photos of the shirts on the membership page. Images will grab users.

The site does let you post pictures, but what I'm talking about is a member's/profile page where a user would have their own separate website page to post their pictures and write comments. We currently don't have that, we just have a gallery.

Steve,
You need to work with dabomb on the user gallery. Make it yourself if you want, I'm all for it. We can give one for free to each club member in good standing.

The ideas are all good, keep them coming.

Good idea. We should mention the raffle more and list all the free stuff that we (and I) had won from the Lokey meet.

I'll see if I have time this weekend to put up a beta site with a login for members to build their sites. I've done one of these a few years ago for another club I was a part of and it turned out pretty cool - much better than cardomain.com's member page.

i'm not a member yet but plan on paying at the SFL meet in june, but frankly, i don't see what's in it for me:

i can't take advantage of the lokey vpp because i already have the car
can't take advantage of the creative carz deal, already have my windows tinted
wouldn't take advantage of the crawford stuff because my car's on a lease

so mayyyybbeeee the only things i would try to take advantage of are some of the kp mods, the invisincaman, the blue batmobile, and zaino, but it doesnt seem that the latter two have discounts. so basically i would be paying 40$ for a card and to say that im a member

I think a lot of people are in the same boat as you. What do you think about having 3 membership types? The cheapest membership would not include any sponsor discounts or benefits. This will allow people to just be a part of this organization and attend meets.

I have leased 3 cars and have modded all 3 cars. Just because you lease it doesn't mean you can't mod them. I plan on doing some mods next month and when my car goes back in 3 years i will get them all unistalled just like I did on my last cars.

It's unfortunate that people look at it this way, but it's reality. What's in it for me that I can't already get for free???

The answer is simple. You're getting access to a cool club, helpful advice from other people in your area, discounts on products, opportunities to win free stuff in raffles, service discounts, free maintainance days where other club members will change our your oil/filter/hepa-filter, etc... for free and the sense of belonging to something that otherwise would not exist w/o people like you! You're also getting the ability to attend meets where club members are covered by a liability insurance policy (very rare), free club cards (will be coming really soon) and many more things yet to be determined. This is a not-for-profit car club. We have to spend all of our money on our members. In order to attract new members we need to make them feel welcomed to the club, yet we can't just let them mooch off of us.

Instead of looking at it like "what can the club do for me" look at it like "what can I do for the club". Ever hear the expression back in college, "the party's what you make it"?

ok i see what you meant about the website, sorry to have jumped all over you it just seemed by the way you wrote it, that you had never been to the site. but you do have good ideas, Maybe we can do like a NFL, CFL and SFL websites, so that way we dont have 97 different web sites.

I do agree w/ neff in that "the party's what you make it"?, the membership should sell itself, i dont think we need to try to sell it to people. at least in my case, i joined FGC a couple of days after the bank account was set up (mainly cause of paypal taking forever for those 2 deposits), and this was way before lokey put out their VPP, which i gracefully took advantage off. In fact a lot of us joined when the only incentive was the club, there where no sponsors, no deals, nothing. Just the thought of being able to hang out w/ other G's in the area was good enough for me.

Jose,

ha ha ha you're hilarious man, my side hurts from laughing so hard at your post... It's priceless!!! Steve (aznluder) provides the club the domain, the hosting space and everything! He's one of our club sponsors. This might be the funniest post I've read in a long time.

i would agree with aznluder, maybe if you throw in some sort of package it would give me more of a reason to join bc i would feel like i was getting something back right away.this way i can feel like the club gave me something besides a card saying im part of the club,

DUDE YOU GET A T-SHIRT!!!!!! You shouldn't allow people to attend who are NOT members, that will solve 90% of the problem! To bad about the raffle thing, I thought that was a great idea, also a good way to bring in some extra cash.
