You know what really sucks?

We have sooo many people in Florida who are reading this forum, going to our meets, and taking full advantage of the club BUT THEY ARE NOT JOINING!!! Right now we have 97 members (thanks to Andrew ) and I really want to break the 100+ member mark just for bragging rights.

FYI... This next "All Florida Meet" in SFL is going to be really big! The FGC will be spending well over $1000 up front on this meet and we could really use a few of you all who will be involved with our activities to join the club. We also have equivalent amounts of money budgeted for the next 2 All Florida Meets this year but we are depending on maintaining a certain amount of new members each month to keep the club going. This last month the membership has really dropped off and I just thought I'd take this opportunity (right before Finiti35 makes a huge post ) to try to recruit a few more members.

Is there anything we can do to get you guys/girls involved? The floor is open and the FGC directors are listening.

That was a direct "cut and paste" from the thread list page. You're not supposed to give us the answer.

But I have to agree with you.

Don't give the same benefits to non-members as members. Each one of these events has an overhead that is not included in the hard cost that the club should fully recover + some.

Example:

For the lunch at the next meet, members pay $5.00, non-members pay $15.00.

Dyno days, members pay $50.00, non-members pay $65.00.

Non-members should pay their full cost + overhead.

Also, how about if you are a non-member, you need a sponsor to invite you to attend. You can do that for one event. After that, you have to join.

I think business cards would help promote. What's the status on the cards? I was driving by audio itch last friday and saw a CB g35 getting stuff done so I stopped by to chat. Told him about the club, but didn't have any business cards so I gave him my membership card instead. He said he goes on G35driver.com sometime, so hopefully he'll join soon.

I enjoy the info on this site and I joined up as soon as I decided to buy my very own G35. But I have to wait until JULY to get my red 6MT coupe. So. I'll see you guys when I can drive up in an appropriate car!

I'll hopefully be making the count 98 members soon ...just waiting to graduate from school (hopefully in 3 weeks) and get a job, so I can afford to buy the G. I'll be joining as a premier member.

I think the lokey deal you guys have going should be advertised more, that might get your membership higher. I've been on the forums for a few months, and didn't hear about it until a few weeks ago. After I did, it was a no brainer...Its a great incentive for joining.

I actually brought that up and the other directors shot down the idea. They wanted to be fair to everyone so I went along (kind of have to since I was in the minority). Other than that, what else can we do to attract new members. I have a list with about 30 names of people who are not members but check this site out daily (and I'm adding names by the minute ).

Seriously, if you are not a member and have thought about becoming one, PLEASE DO. If you have reservations post them here. You certainly aren't going to hurt my feelings by doing so. Remember I'm just the guy who started the club and want to see it keep growing. If we hit a dead spot in the growth I want to know what I can do to rebuild our momentum. (After all that is the president's job, right?)

Oh yeah, Russ... BITE ME!

Not trying to be difficult, but how is that fair to the 100 or so people that have stepped up to the plate and paid for membership to support this association and the activities? What is the incentive to join or continue my membership, other than buying a car from Lokey, if I am going to enjoy the same benefit as non-members or be forced to subsidize their participation in club activities? If that is the case, why did we start a non-profit corporation in the first place? We should have just kept it as a social group that gets together whenever we wanted to show our cars off.

Sorry if I am venting but, if you want people to join, there needs to be a solid reward for membership.

The old addage... "Why buy the cow when the milk is for free" certainly comes to mind. However, we do want to reach out to the community of G35 owners and make everyone feel welcomed, so we can't discourage people from coming and checking us out. Hopefully we'll get a good number of people realize that we're shelling out some major cash on their behalf and they'll want to join the club. If not, the future "All Florida Meets" will have to be members only events or we'll have to charge the non-members more. (Assuming the other directors to agree with this line of thinking).

The real reason I'm making this post is to try to persuade some 50 people to join the club. I would never list their screen names in public, but I currently have a list of 30 or so locals that have checked out this forum today. Each of these local live in FL and not one of them are FGC Members. Some of them have even attended multiple meets in the past. Others have posted in the the FGC and SE Forums for almost a year and have still not joined our club. Today this just hit me like a ton of bricks and got me really wondering why more people aren't joining up? I don't mind helping people out, but I don't want to be walked on either...

Dont flame me on this, i've been off the boards for a while don't feel like searching lol. We doing raffles again this time around? I thought that was a great idea, great way to get to people to have to join. But yes incentives will do the trick, obviously you know this. I can assure you come the first week in June we will deffinately have over 100 members easily! And btw, why is it $50 to dyno!! Usually its like $25-35!? Just curious!

We'll do a raffle once a year. It's difficult to get sponsors to donate $3,000 to a club every 3 months.

$25-$35 for 3 pulls with wide band... where? Usually it's like $100-$125 per hour or broken down... $50 for the first pull with wide band and $25 each additional pull with wide band.

Maybe people are not joining because the entry fee is too high. Most people probably won't take advantage of the membership benefits, so the $40/year may be too high for people. What do you think about lowering it for an introductory period? We can still charge a food fee for the meets to prevent any loss in revenue that might occur from the discount. Raise the food fee an extra buck for members and non-members so that we can try to get more people to at least sign up.

Unless there are more incentives, I don't think many people will want to join. The lokey deal is great, but normally applies to those who don't have G35's yet. Maybe we can put together a welcome package to send to new members. It would include something like a club t-shirt, club decal, etc. How about we let members have free space on our website to post pictures of their ride and mods?

The club membership details are also not that prominent in our forum. Is there a way to get a big banner at the top to promote our club membership? Have it link directly to our website or our website's membership info page.

$40 or however much it is is relatively inexpensive as compared to other car clubs. And come on, if $40 is "to expensive" you should be driving a battery powered kia.

We do need some car decals.

membership prices are fine, we already had an "introductory period" of $25 for charter membership. And have you been to our website cause you do get a t-shirt w/ membership (maybe premier only), and you can post your pictures on the website, and there are link to our website all over this board, feel free to click on my sig any time you want
