Todd I do realize the effort that goes into them.. Trust me I know I used to do corporate fund raising and 3k would be enough to cover napkins Seriously my post was not meant to question any fund raising efforts at all. My intention here it to keep the good spirit of the club moving forward by enticing new members. And at the end of the day having raffles at such a large event like this almost becomes expected. I do realize that perhaps the time involved is too much for one person and so I would suggest asking for help from other memebers. I know there are a lot of people here who have in depth contacts so why not exercise our talents We obviously rasied some good funds which according to bylaws have to be spent so what better way to spend some money to make some money. Just my two cents which I will gladly put towards the purchase of a raffle prize

We have to spend money to make money. It doesnt always have to be Donated to the club. If you dont feel comfortable spending large amount of money than why do we do simple item like zaino wax, clear corners, oil and filters etc. Sell raffle ticket at 5 buck a piece and I am pretty sure people are willing to spend 5 dollar on a raffle ticket to win a thirty dollar item. This way we can built our bank to purchase larger items.

Items that djniknala was so graciously willing to give to our members would have been a extra bonus as raffle items. I believe these meets can benefit a raffle regardless if it is big or small.

just my 2 cent.

that seems logical Adam but it turns out not to work...reason being:

Lets say we buy (3) items at $30 each, now we are at $100 with tax or whatnot. For our first raffle we had about 1/4 of the members buy all the tickets. Meaning assume 1/4 will buy (1) ticket because who would really spend $10 to win a $30 item? at 120 members thats 30 tickets. Times 5 equals $150.

This assumes $50 profit! IMO thats hardly worth the effort.

The way school/church raffles work is every item is donated. My thoughts are to ask BOTH members and sponsors to donate. Alan (djniknala), just gave away an exhaust, Ztube, Popcharger, & Spark Plugs. More members like this that would donate to club as a whole instead of first come first serve could create a very awesome raffle generating thousands to our club!!!

And our future meets would be HUGE! The club already has a nice nest egg for the next 2 "All Florida Meets" later on this year. Plus we already have our insurance and other annual fees covered for next year. I can almost guarantee that if I run (or am re-elected) for President next year, the raffle will be HUGE!!! Especially since 2/3 of the club will be up for another year of dues.

Way, way off topic but, since we are already there. . .

A raffle is pretty simple, we just need each member to donate a couple of hours of their own time based on their profession or talents:

G8tor20: Two hours of legal services, that is a $500.00 prize right there.
Neffster: Will design your own home missle defense system.
FlFire: Conduct an arson investigation for free if your house burns down. (Maybe I can pair this with G8tor20's package?)
Dabomb: How to take the house/Two hours of free poker lessons.
G35Sean: 21 Tips on how to speculate in a hot housing market.
Demonteverde321: Learn to speak Japanese in four easy lessons.

Just right there, we have at least $2,500 worth of raffle prizes! What is the problem?

I live in Rockledge, so I'm not going to be driving to Orlando and then back this way, but if you guys take 95 down, I'll meet you guys near the 528/95 interchange. Someone just needs to call me on my cell and let me know when you head out from Waterford.

Can someone driving down Saturday morning give me a call on my cellphone when you guys hit the Beeline please? I live in Brevard, so I won't be meeting everyone up at Waterford, but would like to hop in the caravan as it heads south.

Thanks
