EXACTLY! I first noticed this about 15 years ago when I lived in Gainesville. Since then, I see it all the time and I just don't understand the mentality behind it. Not only is it illegal in FL to have the hazards on while in motion, but I find it very distracting as a driver because: a) I've got a bunch of blinking yellow and red lights around me; and b) if it's red blinking lights, then it makes the brake lights less obvious when they are engaged so it's difficult to tell if the driver is braking or just cruising.

More and more people do this all over FL.

its not only in florida
it happens in every state. i wish they would get pulled over for it. since it is illegal and it is very distracting to other drivers cause you dont know if they are actually stopped or driving.

I saw dozens of people driving in the downpour with their hazard lights on during the drive back to Tampa on Sunday. Very annoying and unsafe, too!

Yup. My friend got pulled over by one of those Hialeah cops that don't speak English in the middle of a storm on the Palmetto. Thanks to my fairly good command of Spanglish I figured out that the cop stopped him because he had the hazards on, as did everyone else on the highway but the cop said he couldn't pull over everyone and give them a ticket. Hialeah cops know their stuff, but that guy was hilarious
