Bastard would be wheel thieves...

Two days ago I start hearing this weird knocking noise emanating from the rear of my car. I go to look underneath figuring it was one of my Borla pipes hitting something and don't find anything wrong and scheduele an appointment with Orlando Infiniti right away to check it out. I drive around and still hear the noise. I figure it must be my tires really going bad.

Yesterday I miss their appointment and they tell me they're booked and can't see me until next week. Oh well, sign me up for Monday then. I look underneath the car one more time. Again, I don't see anything wrong. I take a good look at my right rear wheel and get immediately pissed off (revert to jui-jitsu kill mode).

All my lugs are gone except for the the lone wheel lock which was the only thing holding up my wheel One of the threaded bolts that the lug nuts screws onto has been snapped off

Apparently somebody tried to steal my wheel, but gave up once they couldn't get past the wheel lock. I'm glad the lock prevented them from stealing the wheel, but i'm sooooooo pissed now that my wheel is scratched up and I can only put four nuts on and that I drove around in that condition when at any time my rear wheel could have flew off and I could have put myself or someone else into a serious injury

I'm so fortunate that didn't happen. If I ever cross paths with the person/persons who did this.....they're gonna wish they stayed home that night...

Oh Ian I'm so sorry. It really makes me pissed off at today's society, no respect whatsoever for anybody's property. I'm glad you're ok though and that you found it out before something worse happened. A while ago the same thing happened with my Maxima in Tampa when they tried to break into the car, window seal was destroyed, 3 out of 5 lugnuts missing, one bolt snapped off. I had no idea they tried to jack the wheel too so my dad drove it to SFL, I drove like that for 2 weeks and took it TO THE TRACK! Took it in for service after that and we noticed it while it was on the lift.. the tech told me I was the luckiest person to survive Moroso with a wheel like that. That's why I refuse to park my G anywhere where I can't keep an eye on it. Friggin idiots these days.

Yes Ian sorry to hear that as well. Do you have any idea of the time and place you think the tampering may have happened. I am considering getting a second lock just for the heck of it

Ian,

Forgot to tell you to get a police report done. They may be hitting other vehicles in the neighborhood and if the cops never know there was an attempt on yours, there is nothing to follow-up on. Also, don't forget about an insurance claim if the repairs end up being big $$$. I'm sure the insurance company will also want a police report in order to complete a claim.

That sucks Ian, but I guess that was attempt #2 and something scared them the first time when they scratched ur wheels up. Maybe we should all invest in the shock sensor and not just the SFL gang

Umm, we in SFL don't garage our cars 24/7 and SFL has something called HID theft... Definitely invest in some sort of an alarm device Ian. A shock sensor wouldn't do much if they jack up the car anyway.

Ian, just heard your terrifying story!!! So many inconsiderate jerks in this world. You can't own anything nice without someone screwing you over and over. This is such a major disadvantage to having nice aftermarket wheels, they draw so much attention to your vechcial (including theieves and neighborhood punks)...... Glad to hear your OK though. We all need to help watch each others back to put a stop to this bullsh!t.

That really FRICKEN SUCKS. I hate thieves. They try and take what others have worked hard for. They are the lowest of low. No MENTALITY. If that wheel problem had caused serious injury or death would the theives then feel bad. Probably not, they have no respect for anyone, including themselves or human beings. They will get theirs in the form of Karma.

This story is somewhat reassuring for me about wheel locks. My Volks have been sitting in my living room for almost a month now waiting on tires. I ordered the McGard Spline Drive with lock and plan on using another set of locks just to be safe. Hopefully this will stop them from stealing; however, now I feel like checking my wheels in case something similar happens to me.

That's the thing, they tried to steal his STOCK wheel that you can find for pennies on ebay. Now that's sad.
