Question would this work-(tire/wheel upgrade)?

would i notice any negative impact if i went from the factory 17" wheels on my 2005 sedan with 235/50/17 tires, to a set of factory 18" wheels off a coupe, with 225/45/18's in front and 245/45/18's in the rear? other than financial? someone is selling a set of rims/tires off their coupe and they have about 5200 miles on them. I thought it might be a cheap mod if it won't cause any problems with the ride/balance of the car.

also, do i have to have two different tire sizes? could i eventually replace them with all the same size? say the 245/45/18's. thanks.

not sure if you would notice any negative impact, but I do have a set of tires and rims off of a coupe (the 18" ones). PM me if interested.

I think you'd be fine. Definitely check in the Sedan Forum first...

(Please correct me if I'm wrong) The coupe wheels, front and rears are the exact same size rim front and rear, 18 X 8.0 even though it uses two different size tires (stock tread rubber in the front is 225/45/R18 and rears are 245/45R18). So, to anwser your question YES you can use the same tire size for front and rear.

G35papa has the 18" on his sedan, you might want to contact him if you have any concerns about running a staggered setup. If I were you, depending on the condition of the tires, I'd switch to 245 all around to be able to rotate the tires.

someone in the sedan forum said they won't fit from a coupe, because of the wrong offset. any others know if this is a fact?

They will fit and I know just because numerous people on here have done it, you will only have rubbing issues with the 245's in the back if you lower it.

thanks for the info. i didn't mention that they are from an '03 coupe. not sure if that matters. and the cost would be around 1000.00 for the set of 4. they are factory chromed also.

mine are from 03 as well, but not chromed (they are the factory color). Not sure if you want the chrome as I have heard that it chips pretty easily and is expensive to fix when it does.

IMO, for $1000 the tires had better be pretty new and the wheels in really good condition. Good luck w/ your purchase...

yeah, it did seem high, even though the set was in primo shape. i let it go, since it actually ended up more like 1300.00. dude on ebay had them and i just felt that was too pricey for me.

My bro had my 18"s on his 2003 sedan for about a week. I let him borrow them because he didn't want to buy new tires for his 17"s since he is trading in his sedan soon for a '05 DG coupe. I guess we will have matching cars...except the difference of the '04/'05. But I guess he just took them off and is going to buy new tires.
