Suggestions for Vacation in Miami...

Hi all,
I am a member of the National G Club and have planned a vacation in Miami the second week of August. I will be staying in a condo on the corner of Collins Avenue and 11th street which seems to be about a block away from the beach. I was wondering if any of you are familiar with that part of town. I would also like tips and suggestions as to places to eat, shop, go clubbing, anything that will make my stay more enjoyable. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If any of you all ever plan to visit Washington D.C. I can give you tips and advice as well. Thanks in advance!

Space? Are you serious? Check out Nikki Beach on Sunday nights, Mansion, Crobar, Amica.. if you want a more relaxed atmosphere, check out the Delano and the Shore Club (both outdoor bars/restaurants by the pool). There's also a whole bunch of places to hang out at on Ocean Drive.. Wet *******, Mangos, Fat Tuesdays.. depends on what you're into. You can go to Coconut Grove and the Design District if you don't mind driving to Miami. You're gonna have fun, I miss South Beach..

Quick Update:
We will be staying at the Royal Plaza Hotel located on the 1500 block of Collins Avenue. I was checking weather and was sad to find that it seems to thunderstorm in Miami every day during this time of the year. Is this true?? Or is it a passing thunderstorm that occurs for a short period of time. I hope it isn't an all day event, that would ruin my plans for getting a nice tan. Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Unless it's a hurricane/tropical storm of some sort, it usually rains for 30 min tops, and not even everyday. Getting a tan is the easiest thing, I have a helluva tan and I don't ever go to the beach! You can't hide from the sun here

Best place to eat on Miami Beach is "The Forge." a bit north of south beach, but well worth it. The finest wine selection in all fo Miami.

The SoBe restaurants are mainly Hype, decent food, and crap fro service.

I lived in Miami for 11 years........only went to eat on South Beach when friends came to town. The majority of the best restaurants are in Coral Gables.

Night life is great at the beach. bring lots of coin......drinks will set you back about $10 per drink.

No recommendations on the clubs from me. I got out of the clubbing scene about 7 years ago. Unless it's changed, the bulk of the clubs will be on Washinton Ave....1 block west of Collins.
