Cracked Headlights - what to do?

Yes, I know this is my second thread of the morning..

Upon washing/clay barring and waxing my car yesterday I came to the stunning conclusion that both of my headlights have a hairline crack underneath the top bulb. The crack is about 2-3" long and is pretty much a straight line.

I would like to assume this should be covered by warranty, but here lies my problem: there is NO FREAKING WAY I will leave my car with the dealer, let alone have them work on it. What are the odds that I can bring the car, they can visually inspect it and then give me the parts? Obviously this sounds like a lot of work, but I would even be willing to put a deposit down to cover the cost of the headlights in case I don't return the busted stock ones. Anyone who knows me and this car knows that I have been anti-bulbs (clear corner hater club member #1 ), and I have never even had interest in opening the headlights or changing the bulbs out.

I welcome your suggestions/opinions, I figured with the few people who work for dealerships on this forum, they may be able to add some insight or maybe even a solution. I can provide pictures if necessary.

Hum, I wish I knew the answer your looking for, have you ask John @ Lokey?

Maybe, this is good time to upgrade to '06 projectors lamps?

I haven't asked John @ Lokey because I have never met him.. I would assume he browses this forum for time to time and could possibly see this thread?

I have no interest in paying for new headlights, I barely drive the car as it is, let alone at night haha.

You're in good hands with Lokey. If they can install S/C's, headers, clutches and flywheels they can replace your stinkin' head lights.

It's just a car Jason, geesh...

Ya think he's gonna drive his car to Tampa for some headlights I'm thinking he might want to have it trailered

Do you drive with your fogs on? So far the heat from the fogs is the only explanation I know of, but damn in 5000 miles and I can imagine how often you use your headlights...

I'll check with my guys over at Autoselects and see if they can get the parts under warrenty for you. They are in Longwood, and as Long as they get the parts back they are cool, but let me check it out.

The local dealership fixed both of mine. No serious problems but they did leave off a bunch of bolts when putting everything back together. They fixed it when it was brought to their attention but it was a hassle to have to take the car all the way back to the dealership. So I can see why you wouldn't want to take it in.

You might want to wait on replacing the headlights anyway since the new ones are likely to crack too. When I had mine done they replaced them with the exact same part and admitted that they hadn't found a replacement that wouldn't crack. The replacements I have are still ok but Chris's replacements have already cracked again. If mine crack again I think I will wait to replace until they fix the problem or until the wtty is about to run out.

Can't they replace them with the 06 headlights, since they don't make the reflector headlights anymore? At least on BMWs, someone got into an accident and they replaced his trunk with the newer version for that reason.

PS Was that Brandi that just posted

In a perfect world I would trust a dealer to attempt to get lift arms underneath my car, remove my custom made wheels without scratching the sh*t out of them and pulling out headlights without messing up my paint; but we don't live in a perfect world and I don't think anyone cares to take the amount of time and patience with my car that I do.

Ha.. great point. I have made my quota of trips to tampa this year, two was enough.

Russ and Chris have stock cars (correction - russ has wheels)

We are actually at 7000 miles now, the car is almost a year and half old now.. Headlights only come on when the auto function says so.

That would be the ultimate solution! If they were to ship the lights to my house and include return labels in the boxes I would send mine back the way the new ones came.

Brandi sighting! Thanks for the info.. Not too keen on taking my car to a place that leaves bolts uninstalled, haha. Good ole Atlantic Infiniti.

Wouldn't that be nice.. to actually get "new" parts?

That stock comment really stuck me deep. You could've said NA or something like that.

P.S. WE BOTH HAVE TINT!
