Has anyone tried Posi-Tap connectors? I'm thinking of using them to connect my window up module. They, and the Posi-Lock connectors have gotten good reviews at a few motorcycling sites. I found them in the automotive section of Walmart.

Anyone know the size of the wires in the car that the module will be connected to?

Go to posi-lock.com for more info.

KPtechnologies does not recomend using them.

For 1, they don't always make a very tight connection (very easy to install wrong)

2nd, quite a bit of water gets inside the inner door. After a car wash or rain wait an hour, put your window down, then back up. You'll be surprised how long water stays inside the door. This water can lead to corrosion of the metal connector plate in these taps.

3rd, the door is subjected to excessive vibration/shock every time you close it. Mechanical connectors like the one you mentioned are much more prone to failure under these circumstances.

KPtechnologies recomends that all connectsion be soldered. This will guarentee a positive connection for as long as you own your car.

That being said, a large amount of people have used scotch locks, posi locks, ttaps, whatever you want to call them with success. It can be done, it has been done, and generally peole don't have any issues with them. But, three years down the raod we'll have to wait and see.

Hey I got my window up module and installed it tonight. It was an easy install and took about an hour. It works perfectly.

I just had one question about how to program it to automatically lock. From what I understand, I have to turn the car on and press the door lock?

With the drivers door open turn the ignition to the 'ON' position and lock the doors three times within 5 seconds. If the program is successful the doors will lock a fourth time, aproximately 1 second later.

be careful with the automatic lock feature. I locked myself out of the car twice after installing the module. I finally disabled that feature. The problem is that it locks whether the door is shut or not. On both occassions I started the car and got out to get something and when I got out I shut the door. As soon as I shut the door I realized what I just did, but it was too late.

Thanks for the info. Good to know why you don't recommend them. It makes a lot of sense and I'm glad I asked.
