Please take a moment to remember and thank a/the veteran(s) today. Political positions aside we all owe the women and men of our armed services much gratitude.
The Pullen Family would like to thank everyone that has or is standing watch.

haha me too! I was a tin can sailor. I am working with agroup of guys to get an Adams Class Destroyer either in Tampa or St Pete. Actually it is the USS Charles F Adams DDG2 as it is the only one left all the other have been coverted to shcick razors or brake rotors.
Always good to meet a fellow shipmate. I worked in Gunnery/WEPS man that was fun work!

Small world... I was stationed on two Destroyers out of Norfolk, Virginia... First one was older and decommissioned... spent the rest of my time on a newer model.
Nice to meet you too... I worked in CIC...

I went to a gunnery school up in dam neck. I was supposed to go to a DDG out of Norfolk but you know how the navy loves change. I ended up in Charleston. The AEGIS ships were just begining to get commishioned when I left in 91'; I should have stuck around for a tour on one. Like you I decomm'd my first ship... never thought I would have hated to see it leave like that.
So did you learn how to write backwards? I loved CIC cool dark and quite.
Nice to meet you as well don't laugh but my name is Noah. Are you going to the Picnic on the 19th?

CIC was interesting... high pressure when the Captain was there... I got to control a jet (F4) one time and found out what AMF (Alpha Mike Foxtrot) stood for. Apparently the pilot had had enough of my ship-to-air control...
I used the GI Bill to go to college after I got out, so the Navy was good to me. Between that and the Education Refund plan that the company I worked for had, most of my college education was paid for.

Ahh Radarman, yeah I went to Gunnery School up in Great Lakes aka great mistakes as they called it when I was there. Like you I had my first encounter with snow when I went up there for boot camp. I grew up in Florida and when I left for Great Lakes I was in shorts and a TShirt and discovered snow for the first time. Whoa that stuff is cold man!
When you said newer ships I figured you were on one of the new Burke Class DDGs. Man the ship I was on had it keel laid in 62' and I didn't show up on it till 88 it was a great ship and I made a lot of great friends. Of course there are no strangers when you serve on a Tin Can.
The Navy and GI Bill were absolutely key to my current success' and I am most grateful for the opprotunity I had to serve. I gained a worldly knowledge that you can't get any where else and to this day I am still humbled by the kidness I was greeted with in western and eastern countries.
I have seen how bad some folks truly have it and as a result everytime I think I have it bad I am reminded of how good I actually have it and I am encouraged to turn my nose into the wind and steam on through the storm.
Well John I look forward to meeting a fellow tin can sailor.
This is a picture of me driving my first car. I was standing after steering watch with a friend of mine. I nearly rolled everyone out of their rack that night chasing the rudder angle indicator sent from the bridge. My driving has improved since then.
