My parents are into investment property i see what they have to deal with all the time. Its not pretty. I say you are so close to finishing your car that you finish it enjoy it and try not to worry about it. Then put your money into something that makes money for you like investment property.
But headaches that bring you 100% profit are much easier to deal with and tolerate than ones that burn a big hole in your pocket.

Agreed.... But look at it this way.... You spent all this time and money on a piece of property that depreciates. Now you want to sell it at a loss with out enjoying the use of the property first. This is what doesnt make sense to me. IMO you should at least get some use out of the vehicle first and if you are unhappy with it then part it out and sell it. Im not telling you what you should do. I just trying to help you think it out a little and Im not saying you shouldnt sell it or keep. You have to make that decision your self.

I have enjoyed it somewhat...to the tune of 6300 miles.

You arent really FI so it might not make complete sense to you. If there was no chance of blowing my motor...then yes...i'd spend the 600 bucks and continue having fun. Buuuuuut, I'm tired of reading threads with blown gaskets, rings, bent rods, etc. As many headaches as I have now, I cannot afford the big one. So...that heavily weighs in on the decision too. I just didnt realize how maxed out our engines were to begin with.

I appreciate you trying to talk sense into me...and you never know...it may work.

Its just sad to see a Car that had that much time and money put in to it go to the way side. I agree with the engine being maxed out and going FI you always run the risk of blowing your motor. I think this is why I stayed away from it. Maybe you should just part out the S/C and keep the rest. After all this seems to be the main source of your concern. If do that the cost to maintain the car will be far cheaper and you wont have to worry about blowing you enginge all the time or runing to NC to get it fixed and you wont have as big as a loss on the car. Plus you would have one of the nicest cars out there with out he HP but who cares. The G has a decent amout of HP in the first place just do things that are NA. Could this be an option.

G8tor20: are you having any ailments with the stereo system? My only suggestion would be to make a tapered box for that single 12" woofer or put two tens so that it fits flush to the back of the rear seat instead of wasting that extra 5" of depth.

Are any of your rattle/vibration issues with the stereo? or just engine stuff?

Adrian

Well...that is exactly the decision. I like the audio, wheels and body kit. Just dont know how the kit looks without the fmic. You are right in that my main concern is the s/c. While the power is nice...the traction is awful and the waiting for the SES light that is inherent in my pesamistic mind is a tad too much. I'm thinkin of just parting out the S/C. But again, Ive spent all the money to get here...I should enjoy it a few thousand more miles i guess

oh no...i love the audio and everything. Just an engine concern. and the headaches that come with having to fix and retune all the time.

the system, wheels surely stay. The s/c is at stake and possibly the kit if it looks dumb without the FMIC

The system obviously rattles the inside cabin a bit but i expected that. I didnt dynomat and the 600 watts going through the speakers overcome the rattles of the back deck.

I love the Greddy front bumper and skirts. But i dont know how it looks with out the FMIC in fact i was very surprised on how good it looked in the DG. It was my understanding that you were going to sell the G and get beater like Todd. My missunderstanding. You could alwayts get a new bumper kit that doesnt show as much as the Greddy i.e. the Kenstyle Impulse front bumper. If you want I know a website that is selling the Kenstyle front bumper seperate from the rest of the kit. However I dont know if it is Authentic I was thinking of getting it but im not willing to spend the money just yet.

Unhappy

Jeez Louise.......

I own investment property.

I tried taking a lawn chair over to the land yesterday just to sit there and admire it.....Somehow, it just didn't give me the thrill and rush that driving my car does....

I know it is all relative....but it is not like you have $200,000 tied up in some super exotic that you are scared to take out of the garage.

It is sad to say but anything half way performance oriented for under $50K nowdays is CHEEP!

Just drive your car and enjoy it.

Easy for you to say Terry. Wait until you nearly total your car, have to pay a second time for the S/C components and install, then you have to try to get it retuned only to HOPE that the guys at the body shop who pulled your engine to reattach the 2 main rails knew what they were doing and reinstalled everything correctly.

IMO, if you want a fast car BUY ONE, don't build one. YMMV

okay...but i'm over 50K at this point.

And though taking a lawn chair isnt as thrilling...its a much wiser choice. I'm only 26 and have many years in front of me. I'll have that weekend car I can have fun with. Its just tough having a daily driver with all these little things that keep popping up.

And Dan#1....there is no way im getting rid of the G. Its here to stay. Just don't know about the s/c...thats all

whatever you decide on the SC at least you know two things.

1. You know you have a kick a$$ car.

2. You know who the real Dan #1 is. ( you can tell Dan #2 I said that to.)

Pretty much. I'm waiting to hear back from the body shop. They're tearing the car apart on Thursday and looking for 'more damage' however the rental car agency called me this morning and they just spoke w/ the body shop who stated that the car was financially too far away from being totaled out.

Odds are they can repair it but I don't like the idea of a body shop removing and reinstalling my engine. I know that they have to remove the engine to replace the front support rails which are bent. When this happens the crawford headers are coming off FOR SURE. Also, I'm going to try to arrange to have me and my buddy there to remove the S/C while it's out of the car, along with the headers, cats and exhaust. This would allow me to get the car home, NA and then finish removing stuff before trading it in and getting rid of it.

One thing is for sure, I do not have any plans of keeping it at this point.
