Question about tranny

Well recently I have noticed when I leave my house in the morning, when i put the car in drive and begin moving the tranny makes a grinding noise...but it doesnt last long..well this morning i was leaving the house and the noise was extremely loud....I thought that there was a branch or stick stuck below the car so i got out to check and there was nothing....The noise doesnt happen all the time, usually only when the car has sat for awhile...while driving i put the car in first when i pulled up to a light and it did it again....but at the next light it didnt happen....I have an 04 AT coupe and was just wondering if any1 has had similiar issues or have any idea what might be wrong...The car is going into lokey infiniti of clearwater on Tuesday, but I dont want to be given some bs story....
thanks
derek

I'm not an AT expert, but I'd say check the fluid level.

It depends on how many miles you have on your car you shouldnt have to worry about Tranny fluid until 30K thats when you should get it flushed out. I dont know much about cars but this is what the manuel says.

I have the same issue BUT its not the tranny. I thought it was also but I only noticed it when I started off and then when I made it to the bottom of the driveway. It was the rotors. They rust up on the surface when my car sits for a day or two with all the rain we have had. Once I hit them a couple of time the noise goes away

That's interesting. Good point!

I wonder if crazyg35coupe keeps his car outside when he's not driving it.

Yes my car sits outside ...but not more than a day at the most...I dont believe it is the rotors, because the noise comes from right below me,,,the last time it happened i could hear a grinding noise. but i could be wrong. Hopefully I will find out tuesday. i just know im going to take it to infiniti and there not going to be able to duplicate the error....but thanks for the ideas....how did you bang on the rotors???

I think he means that he just pressed the brakes a few times.

I've noticed the same noise a few times after I drive home in the rain. I keep my car in a garage, but the next morning when I back out, I hear a bit of noise when I press the brakes for the first time.

You should be able to see the rust on your rotors if that's it.

Normal braking action exposes the raw, virgin metal of the brake rotors. It can literally rust in a few minutes when it gets wet. Just spraying off your wheels after washing your rims will rust them.

After you drive the car and tap the brakes a time or two, the rust will be wiped away. Sometimes it makes a noise. I hope that's all it is...
