if the car rolled down the street u can blame the parking brake....if the car falls straight to the ground the brake had nothing to do with it....
Dude, you've got an auto... With the parking brake on the car WILL NOT ROLL. With the parking brake off the car will roll a few inches until the tranny locks up because there are NO BRAKES ON. Remember the parking brake is INSIDE of the rear hub, preventing the car from rolling AT ALL. The tranny gears have slop (backlash) which allows the cars to roll slightly when jacking up a car... If the car rolls, the jack bends or falls or both.
BTW, the chocks are for the front wheels since there is no brake applied to them at all...

that might all be good but when the jack lifts up the whole side of the car chocks wont do a bit of good

Danny, according to the owners manual there are only 6 approved jack points. The 4 corners which only jack up one tire, the pumpkin (rear diff.) which jacks up both rear tires and the front suspension point under the front of the car which jacks up the two front tires.Originally Posted by SFLG35

NONE of these points lift the entire side of the vehicle, hence this was, by your own admission, 100% user error.
Plus the parking brake still would have kept the car from rolling if one of the two rear tires was on the ground and the chocks could have been put under the other tire so you lose on both counts..........

wrong toddy
i was using one of the 6 jack points. i was using the front driver side one and it did lift the whole side of the car up. so its not user error
stop being a d!ck
