DVD Install

This weekend:

Overall the install went well. The TVNavtogo was fairly easy to hook up. Dan and I put the shield and ground to pin 4 (RGB ground) to begin with, but later moved to it chasis ground. The PAC was super easy, pretty much just snap in the harness.

Only problem was mounting. I, originally, wanted the dvd to be put in the glove box. That didn't work, way too big. Then I thought I could put the DVD player where the NAVI unit is now, and shove the NAVI somewhere behind the glovebox. Ya, that didn't work. There is NO room behind there whatsoever. So, finally I just said f*ck it and mounted it under the glovebox.

I'm happy with it, works well and the picture quality is good, but I have some horizontal lines that scroll. Dan was saying something about noise filters on the 12V leads. Any ideas on this one?

Very nice, Todd. That looks great!

Is that a half DIN or full DIN DVD player?

Playing DVDs in your car is really cool. I recorded several Buccaneer games (OK, only when they win) and burned them to DVD and played them in my car. It really blows people's mind to see that kind of stuff in a car.

Yeah, full din, however, it's the length of the unit that prohibits installing it in the glove box, so even a half din is out of the question, I believe.

Yeah, at first this is what I wanted to do as well, but after more thought, I knew I would be playing DVDs at least 95% of the time. So, to me, the memory thing that stores the position of the movie when the car is turned off is more important than the 5% I would be gaming.

Another thing I can always do in the future, is plug a PS2 directly into the DVD players front inputs, if I ever want to game.

Looks nice I am considering doing the same to my car.

Question: Is there a switch required between the Nav and the DVD player?

If so where did youput it?
