If oil costs are that high why then do the companys
profits skyrocket every f****n year???

Sorry you can't boycott Exxon AND Mobil. They are one company since 1999. And even if they lost market share and lowered their prices some, it would not be back to $1.50 a gallon. Crude oil cost 3x what it did back when we could get it for $1.50. Simple supply and demand will make our energy costs higher until we can 1) Switch from fossil based energy sources (lower our demand)OR 2) Stop emerging markets from competing for the fossil fuels... (lower their demand)You hear that China and India???
gas is going to be the same everywhere because the refining process is going to get more convoluted. The gov't has mandated a new additive process that the refining companies must use, so that cost will have to be built into the price of gas (which it has been for three weeks). Once it hits $3 a gallon, I think I will just drive the Prius around and park the Magnum.
