Scaling the Vortech plans back a little

After talking with my shop [ car woiuld have been ready to start today ] we have decided....well I did . To put the smallest pulley [ 2.87 ] on and install a waistgate and manual boost controler and bleed boost off at 10psi to start with . I will get to 10psi sooner and the motor will not have to work as hard to push the extra boost thru the IC . Belt slip should go away totally because preasure will never build past 10psi between the blower and IC . We are hoping the boost doesnt drop off to much as I have seen with the one other person that has tried it . He tried it with the stock SC-trim blower . With the T-trim , boost is building the fastest just as it reaches 10psi . I was spinning the blower at about max rpm recomended by Vortech with the 3.12 and the custom 34 tooth cog pulley . So I will be over reving it , but not putting so much stress on the motor nor the blower.

With all the heads lifting , moving . What ever is going on . I want to keep my motor in the car for a summer or two . I havent driven this thing much at all in the last two .

Along with the waistgate , water/meth injection , and most importantly...Me not tuning the car [ shop is doing it this time ] I hope to have a fast and safe car for the summer and maybe during this winter I'll go with a EMU that can control things better

sounds good.

I'd love to see a T-trim dyno to compare it to a SC-trim with different pulleys

I have mine here . I'll see if I can scan it and post . I dont think it has A/F and boost levels though

Here yopu go . this was the power curve run . It made about 10 peak whp less because A/F drops with more load on the motor

booger, have you measured the pressure differntial before and after the intercooler?

you shouldn't be coming anywhere close to maxing out a t-trim. if so, you'd be putting up 700rwhp numbers.

I have a feeling that the intercooler and piping are a big restriction.

Well I had the 3.12 pulley on with a 34 tooth cog pulley on . I dont think its maxing out the blower , but spinning it to there max recomended speed . The belt slipping is whats killing the boost from building further . I beleive if it wasnt slipping . I would be upwards of 16psi to 18psi at 6800rpm's

We gave up on the wastegate idea . Just wasnt working right . Shop is pretty sure that the W/M injection , HKS gaskets , And the L19 head studs , it with hold the boost . We had a set back when we went to tune the other day . I ended up with a misfire that we couldnt find the problem . I found it yesterday , it was the injector wire plug . It wasnt pushed all the way down , so it wasnt getting a good signal or no signal at all . We will finish tuning at the end of this week when its cooler out .

i just read up on some of your old threads. I realize now that you have already gone w/ a bigger IC and 3" piping!

are you still using the SS box? what have you done for the reast of your fuel requirements?

Sorry for all the questions. I am making my decisions on what parts to order for a vortech setup on my sedan.

Full fuel upgrades , return , 550's
Still using the SS box . I still dont feel the need to jump into more problems right now . Its working great .... the Utec is buggy...the AEM is looking better and the shop knows alot about it

I got thge final tune done today . With out any timing being put back in than before . I only made 425whp and 338trq. Again this is on a Mustang dyno . We did add 2 degree's back in and made 430whp . But the com port on my computer took a chit and we couldnt datalog the knock volts so I said we arent going to go any further and I put the timing back . The tuner wanted to put back 2 more degree's because he said it did make more power adding thw first 2 degree's in . But with out the logger I absolutely do not want to take any chances .
All we did , besides the W/M injection . Was to lean it out a little in the mid range to a high 11 to 1 and kept it rich [ low 11 ] up top . Im happy with what it has now . Maybe next summer I'll retune it again and get some more out of it....The tuner said there is more there , but with out the logger Im not going to try .
