I think the engine is relatively strong... It depends on how much your talking about boosting or spraying. I don't believe it is an iron block, but remember these guys were spraying a 375-shot on top of other mods. 287HP (stock at crank) + 25HP or so with other engine mods + 375-shot (375HP at crank = approx. = 687HP at crank. If you read the other articles on my350z.com, they were successfully spraying 300-shot (612HP at the crank) consistently without any problems. It may not be as strong as a supra bottom end, but its still significant. Also, they believed the problem was with the driver. He took off in 1st no prob, but in second he spun the wheels bad. He said that he looked down and he was way past redline so he shifted into third and that is when it blew. He probably ran way lean when and had too much nitrous in the engine when he shifted, KABOOM. Leaning-out is the number one cause of nitrous-related engine failures. They also said the bottom end was still intact, i.e. the crank, bearings, etc.. They are actually using those parts as spares. Therefore, it doesn't appear that the bottom end just blew out because it couldn't handle the horses, it was more like the engine dentonated just to poor air-fuel ration or other tuning issues.

Daaam. That sucks for him. I almost feel the pain inside. Well I mean that's probably what you get for running at 375 shot of nos. I would run 55 at most.

Thanks - Joey Avino

Joey, if you look at the original post, this guy was not just some dumb knucklehead who didn't know what he was doing. I think it was some race team's car. They wanted to see how far they could push the motor before it did fail. There are a good number of guys on this board running around 150 shots with no problems at all. I have a 75 shot (which I'm going to change to a 150 soon) and have encountered no problems at all. If a 75 shot is a joke i.m.o., then 55 would be pointless.
