Drowned my V-Pro! Saved by Mark at SGP

Sunday it was raining pretty hard. I drove through a deep puddle and a freak accident happened: EDIT: My floorboard was flooded and that is how my HKS F-Con V-Pro was immersed in water for a long period. The engine nearly died and black smoke was spewing from the exhaust.

I was heartbroken. I called Mark at SGP the next day. He said to send my car on a wrecker to SGP. I sent the car and Mark paid the driver ($275). He said that it was the first V-Pro he ever saw that was immersed in water.

Mark replaced the V-Pro ($1400) installed it ($500) tuned it ($500) and the next day when I picked it up he just handed me the keys and didn't ask for a cent. The car runs superbly. Now that is customer service. I no longer have any reservations about SGP and they definately will be doing my engine build and TT install (going to go w/ the JWT TT kit).

Unhappy

What????

I'm confused.....how does "raining hard....drove thru a puddle"....

and "my expensive azz V con was immersed in water for a long period"

add up??????

Last time I drove thru a puddle, I didn't park and hang out.

So he didn't charge you for a replacement, install, or tune? I can understand the replacement; I assume he can RMA it.

And he probably didn't tune it; just a guess, but I'm sure he just put the new unit in the same last known state of the old unit. I would hardly call that "tuning" it.

And install? Doesn't that thing come with some kind of harness? All the wiring has been performed in the car already. I really doubt he spend $500 worth of labor removing the old unit and hooking up the new one.

I'm not raining on your parade. I think that's outstanding service. Props to the shop. But I think you're going way overboard in outlining the cost that you didn't pay.

Did he put it there in the first place? why wouldnt you place the FCon in the car, under the dash or something? just doesnt seem wise to place on the exterior of the car, specially when its a 3K EMS

I am just glad I didn't have to pay another penney. I am now confident in his shop to take good care of my car when the road gets a bit rough.

I agree or he will just send it back as a defected unit and get a new one for free. Either way u got a good deal bc he could of charged u for the reinstall/tune.

I am also wondering why the ecu is mounted in the engine bay...every other ecu I have seen is mounted in the passenger compartment, unless I am missing something?

Trey, RMA's reserved for defects. A uniot that was submerged probably doesn't fall under that category. Just my $.02.

How's the wife and kid, BTW.

Everyone: I just was informed by Mark that the V-Pro was in-fact mounted inside the car. My floorboard was flooded and that is why the V-Pro was immersed in water.

After I posted that I started doubting the RMA, but I can't believe he'd just eat the cost of the unit.

They're great, and thanks for asking. Cheryl's laptop is down for the moment, otherwise she'd response herself. I'll let her know you inquired.

Hey Michael...it looks like I will get both the JWT and my V-Pro.

You are definately the man for JWT....but SGP is also very good...HKS cert, and most importantly, only 40 minutes away from me.

I alway recemmend you to anyone on the west coast.

All good. Glad SGP are doing a good job and have the JWT for the new Zs and Gs. Tell Mark and crew to upgrade you to the 700 package...Allot more money but worth it on a built motor.

Recently all of our builds are usually the 700s. 600+ WHP easy.

Whenever you come to SD, let's train some J-Jitsu.
