Kinda off topic but would a crawford plenum cause this kind of problem as well or is it just the SSV because it sucks in so much air?

You have a Piggyback ecu...the SS box . Take the car back to the shop that installed the plenum if a shop installed it . If you installed it , you didnt get something right . Stop thinking of tuning it , a EMU , or injectors . You dont need it at your power level . The SSV [ IMPO ] is only good for bling factor any way

I actually took it to the installer today right after the dealership cause they were trying to rip me off. My installer said I just need a re-tune and everything will be okay. Btw, how would I know if the SSV is warped or if the product is bad? And...is it bad for my car to be driving around like this? Will it cause any damage to the engine?

Spray starter fluid all around the plenum while its running. If your idle runs up you have found your leak.

I agree with boog, dont just throw money at a tune, check for leaks first.

SOunds like the shop knows it did a bad install and is trying to get more money out of you . They should know right off the bat , that a A/F that high at idle isnt right...no matter if you needed to be tuned or not . With the SS box....you only tune it when in boost . The Stock ECU is in charge of idle , start up , and running in vacuum [ no boost ] So it couldnt be a tune that is needed . TAKE IT TO A DIFFERENT SHOP , or take it back to the shop that did the install and tell them you insist they fix thier f-ck up

just curious... how would a leak on the intake side of a boosted engine cause more air to get into the engine? wouldn't the leak cause boost to escape, leading to less air than metered entering an engine and therefore a rich a/f mixture?

My installer did that but what do you mean by the idle running up?

The shop may have done a bad install but they are really close friends of mine so I know they wouldn't try to get money out of me. I'm just gonna go tomorrow and ask him to take the SSV off and see if the SSV is warped by seetting it against a flat surface.

I agree with Booger. Sounds like a vacuum leak. Check all the hoses into the manifold first. What is your A/F while driving? You should have a vacuum of 22 to 24 when you take your foot off the gas when your driving. I had the same problem when I installed my Crawford when I was NA. The idle was pretty bad.

How did you fix the leak?
