the bracket has 3 idler pulleys + 1 jackshaft pulley. The middle idler pulley wasnt spinning freely so it was making a really loud noise but as u let it warm up the noise would get better but still there. My installer told me the bearings went bad so that was the reason for the noise. We finally replaced all 3 just incase if it did happens again or there was another one almost going bad. They are around 25-30 dollars each and u can order them from vortech or even at napa or autoparts store. I read somewhere someone ordered one from summitracing. GL

You can take a piece of wood and hold it against your ear on one end, and the pulley bracket, near the idlers on the other. You will hear the noise, if they exist, at each idler. Also, you can hold against the blower as well to see if you have noise there that shouldn't be...

Broom sticks, cut short, work well.

Once replaced, post back and let us know if that fixed your problem.

I used to have the Vortech before going Turbo. This may not be the problem, but I had a squealing noise at low rpm that I thought was coming from the blower or a pulley. We swapped out pulleys. It ended up being the BOV. Air was escaping and sounded like a squeal. A small adjustment and the noise was gone.

Not sure if this is the same problem but worth a shot.

Did the sound occur on every gear? I have a small squeal on take off in first and second. What did you do to the BOV?

^^^Ya - it happened in every gear - low rpm. There is a set screw adjustment on the recirculating valve. I adjusted it slightly and the noise went away completely.

just buy a filter for the bypass valve. It reduced the noise by 60% and allowed me to be able to hear my exhaust now. One bad thing is it reduces the noise soo well that u dont really hear the loud psssssssssssssssssssss after u decelerate after shifting.

I've got the filter on mine, and it really only reduiced the sound by MAYBE 20% - it's still does it's thing...but a little subdued...
