Sorry that I missed this thread but it looks like most everything has already been said. Just got done installing a cooler on a friends G who recently had his turbo installed.

Ok, just to make this thread longer, what about inline transmission filters? Worthwhile? Or just another point of failure?

Thanks!

(I wasn't planning on adding a temp gauge, just using the CIPHER tool as there are apparently two temp sensors there... hope it's an ECM and not TCM parameter though as CIPHER doesn't "do" TCM yet).
Mine is in series, infront of the radiator/condensor. I don't recall a transmission temp in Cipher, I thought the only temps I saw were coolant and air intake. I know there's a temp sensor on the VB.

I picked up the Amsoil version. I figure that it can't hurt. I haven't installed it yet though.

I read some good reviews of MagneFine - it is a simple inline installation on the return line. The 2 good pts about it are the magnet and the clog bypass valve, which ensures flow even if the filter block up.

I purchased it from this US distributer for $19 (apparently they are an Australian co.).

I've followed Roneski's lead wth the B&M cooler. I've been watching/smelling ATM fluid for about 3K miles now after VB upgrade/TC upgrade since I went SC. No problems FWIW.

Must have been smoking crack that day, I actually have the B&M version. Probably going to install it tomorrow.

These aftermarket coolers can never hurt (unless they spring a leak), but know that they really are unnecessary except in the most extreme service. This JATCO unit is very understressed behind the VQ35 and the Matic-J ATF is a very oxidation resistant, full synthetic lubricant. Unless you frequently do 90+ MPH runs over southwest mountain grades, tow a trailer (LOL!), or autocross the car, the 15K ATF change interval for severe service is adequate.

However, that B&M remote filter is definitely a good idea. Especially with a good Purolater PureOne filter spun on there. That fluid will be crystal clear.

I'll be using a Wix 51515 filter. Both are awesome though.

Where in line would you guys the filter? How often would you change the filter, 10-15k? Any concern on pressure drop with a cooler and filter.

That's a little different than what Q45TECH seems to be saying. His posts make me think that my tranny is living on borrowed time.

My tranny shifts so hard, a pressure drop might be a good thing.

hmm. When will you be in socal next? I've read of varying VB shifting. I have the forged one and it is only rough when I'm heavy on the throttle. Some have said they can not do 1-2 or 2-3 manumatic shifting (no matter what throttle position) smoothly.
