Vortech Feedback

after long research and hard thinkin lol. i com down to wanting to have to go SC rather than staying NA or gettin a JWT twin, cost 9000 for JWT, 5500 for Vortech. ANy feed back? on the vortech kit since that probably the route i going, i only want 325 rwhp / 300 rwtq. that is enough for me, any sugession, safety issue on an 05G35C and will have that belt issue at that low of power, i only waht to run 7 psi or less if can. thanx for feed bak.

I'm running a Vortech setup on my 05 G35c. It's pretty fun to drive the car with an SC. The rattle is there at idle, but I don't mind it much at all. Car feels stock up until 4000 rpms, then you can start feeling the car pull. The first few times at WOT, it caught me off guard how fast the rpms jump when the SC kicks in. At 7.5 psi I hit about 343 hp on a dyno dynamics, which is more than fine for me at the moment. I haven't had the setup for more than 4 months maybe and I've put about 2-3k miles on it (boo -> winter in Chicago) and no problems with the SC yet. You can drive the G like normal and not notice much of a difference, which is great because my wife drives the G and I was afraid she would have problems driving the car, which she didn't/doesn't.

Seems Vortech is relatively low maintenance/low problems.

is there any belt loosen problem that u have, i only want to run stock pulley, everything stock, i have hks hi power, and maybe i add a plenum spacer but that will be about it. and do u have any idea how to get rid of that rattle at idle, i heard if u move the idle rpm to 1000 or so it wont rattle anymore,. i choose it because i only want top end power, i dont need low end if i cruising aroud 4k rpm and it hit sound perfect, how much u got ur sc for, and installa nd tuff, i try to get a good deal.

In the time I've had mine installed I have not had any problems with a loose belt. I have an MREV, JWT flywheel/clutct, stock pulley, stock exhaust/cats. From my understanding you can raise the idle rpms and get rid of the rattle, but there's still the SC whine you get. You'll need to listen to a car with a Vortech on because I think a lot of people underestimate the noise it makes. I'm totally cool with the whine/rattling because I knew it would be very audible.

Cost wise, it all depends on what you put in your car and who does the install/tune. I'm sure you can blow anywhere from 6-8k easily after gauges, install, tune and other misc. Cheapest way you can probably do this is if you install the kit entirely yourself and then just get a good tune. Even then you're still blowing at least 4500-5500 on the SC itself.

I need to make a video or something of my car, because with the idle set to 1350 rpms, and 2.87 pulley, it doesn't rattle at all. You just hear the slight jet engine sound of the blower itself along with the exhaust rumble

Ditto......I have mine at 950 rpms with 3.12 pulley and no rattling, all I hear is a constant whistle

I think you would be happier with a Vortech than the HKS Rotrex . The trq. down low will be better with the HKS . But the top end power is limited to pretty much what it is out of the box . I think that is around 290 to 320whp . Ive seen a couple of dyno's from guys that have spent good money trying to increase the power out of it. But only end up with minimal gains . Plus the piggyback for it can only be tuned by cert. dealer tuner . Thats ok if you live by one .
The Vortech will give you more power out of the box and has potential for much more . You have heard of the issues , a little noisy ,belt slipping is not an issue if you keep the belt tightened up . The piggyback is plenty for the system and can be tuned by any tuner in the country with the know how and the software .

Vortech is a pretty standard setup. I've had mine for 6k+ miles with only minor problems. A couple bearings went bad, fuel line disconnecting, etc. I'm hitting 8.5 psi at max boost with my stock pulley setup, which is better than most, but it still doesn't feel that strong too me. Maybe, I'm used to it by now or I was expecting more...who knows.

Couple bad things are its pretty noisy(although this is Vortech's Super Quiet lines of blowers), rattles quite a bit at low rpms, Vortech supplied fuel management unit isn't the best and some parts could be better designed/built(ie. the intercooler mounts).

For many, it will be a stepping stone to TT's, probably like me.

To quell that whistle, get the Vortech BOV filter. It does a great job. Mine had a loud whistle until I did that.
