G35C Supercharger/Turbo
I might get flamed... but what the hell... Right now I have a '02 G20, but I am preparing to sell it and get the G35C I want to stay in the G family =)
But what I really want to know are my performance options, I have been looking around for a comparison of Turbo compared to the Superchrager for the car. I wanted to know where I can go to read up on both and also everyones opinion on the two.
Thanks!!!

Re: G35C Supercharger/Turbo
it really depends on what you want...are you looking to boost off the line power? or higher rpm power? A supercharger(roots) will offer more power off the line, for it offers a continuous amount of boost. A centerfugal supercharger and turbos will prove more high rpm power. The main difference is that a supercharger is run off the cars belt driven accesories, and needs power to make power. a supercharger causes parasital power loss to the engine, because it requires power to make it. A turbo is run off the exhaust gasses of the car. It causes more backpressure, but is not as parasital as a supercharger. A turbo needs time to spool up, and causes the infamous turbo lag. A lag between booking it, and the full power gain. Both are easy ways to boost power of your car, and it depends on what kind of power you want. if you have any more questions just ask

Re: G35C Supercharger/Turbo
Yes. It's the VQ35DE. It's found in the Maxima, Altima 3.5SE, FX35, I35, G35 sedan/coupe, and 350Z. It makes as much as 287hp in the 350Z, and as little as 240hp in the Altima. The differences in power are mainly intake/exhaust/engine computer related. It's a very durable engine, one of Ward's 10 Best. It's been around awhile, too, in 3.0L form in previous Maxima's, the I30, etc. Great engine.
Things that fit the 350Z may or may not bolt on to a coupe or sedan, as the engine bays are different sizes.

It's also the only V6 to make it to the Ward's list this many years in a row...I believe it's 11 years now, and last year, unless I'm mistaken, it was rated #1...Even the new Quest minivan has the VQ35DE...

Re: G35C Supercharger/Turbo
while nissan claims those differnt numbers, take em all to a dyno...youll se the difference is much less than nissan says.its done to create a higher demand for more high profile cars. hurrat for the VQ, best engine ive ever driven

Re: G35C Supercharger/Turbo
it was a VQ30DE until the 2002 model year when it became a VQ35. 30 and 35 mean 3.0L and 3.5L This was done by stroking the motor. As with all motors, longer stroke tends to up torque, and lower the engines ability to safley rev very high. Other changes were made including: heads, cams, and intake manifold (the manifold has been different since the 00 model year) among others. So, you can't really use anything from the "old" motors. What would be nice would be to see someone destroke the 3.5 350Z motor to 3.0, or 3.3 (old pathfinder displacement) with the pistoms, rods, and crank from an older car. Then the engine could rev higher, and turbocharging would see some nice gains! Especially if they used lower compression pistons. Anyone have an extra 10 or 15 grand laying around who wants to risk it? Have fun getting a computer program to run the new setup!
Re: G35C Supercharger/Turbo
haha the 3.3., weve got a 99.5 pathfinder, most underpowered car ever. 170 hp isnt nearly enough for a car that weighs 4 grand. it would, however be a nice motor to drop into a smaller car. (sidenote...would a rb26dett fit into a 240sx? anyone ever try it?)
