New Plans for the Voretch Coupe
i wouldn't call my car a daily driver, and I don't put nearly as many miles on it as triji, but I really think you could daily drive my car just fine with the 2.87 pulley - it's not like everytime I get in my car I run it hard to redline a whole bunch and beat the snot out of it.
The power even below 4500 rpms really isn't too bad on my car
what I meant when I said good maintenance does not mean getting oil changed every 3k miles and that's it. I meant actually checking your own oil every couple weeks or so and adding oil as needed. Not just oil, but coolant levels too and adding distilled water as needed. Also just checking things over in the engine bay and making sure nothing is coming loose etc. Also a lot of times as I get about 2 minutes away from parking and have notice my oil temps are above 180, I'll turn the heater on full blast and roll the windows down until I'm parked to help prevent heatsoak from happening. Also I absolutely do not push the car hard until the oil temp gauge is showing around at least 140 degrees or so - gotta be over 100. Sometimes in the winter depending on how cold it is, it might be 15 minutes before I feel the car is warm enough for a workout
and when I say "good cooling" a different thermostat really won't do much with aiding overall cooling. I mean stuff like oil cooler, vented hood, bigger radiator, water injection, bigger oil pan with heat fins etc

not until probably saturday, just got to CA today
normally it really isn't a huge amount more maintenance than the NA car, but when you're pushing your block with the 2.87 pulley I'm not gonna let it blow up because I was lazy or cheap

I dunno, you don't just suddenly get 40whp just by adding water/meth injection
Usually you gain power by adding more aggressive timing, but you don't have to add timing. You can just use it as a safety measure. Using WI will lower EGT and cylinder chamber temps which can really help out during long hard sessions
IMO it's been a great thing so far and very cheap to buy methanol and easy to make sure the water tank stays full
running 101 unleaded race gas can also slightly lower cylinder temps because it burns a little cooler than normal pump gas.
IMO the main thing is avoiding detonation at any cost especially when you start getting closer to approaching the edge of what the stock block can hold

But unlike running 101, you can't just add meth. injection without a specific tune for it, correct? I usually see people getting higher numbers with meth/alky injection than without it, especially on the evo forums. Maybe, since its a bit safer, they run more aggressive timing/fuel curve?

Thanks guys for all the info. As it stands right now I should be picking up my 3.12 pulley tomorrow and ordering my fuel return today. Also now, if I can sell my nitrous kit soon, I am going to try and pick up that water/meth to run with the 3.12.

with the 3.12 pulley u dont need the fuel return line (fmu/ pump is fine) and water meth (pe 30cc is perfect). Thats going over board bc at most u will get is 400hp and thats if u have other breathing mods.
If u do 2.87, then yes return line, bigger injectors - meth, and internals.
i have 3.12, borla exhaust, mrev2+ with spacers, headers, and hi flow cats and i'm running only fmu, intank pump, 380cc injectors and greddy EU with idle raised to 950 rpm and I have no problem with it being lean up top.
As mention before, u wont need it bc i doubt u will hit over 400hp with 3.12 pulley.

I am currently running a 3.12 pulley and am hitting 379hp on a dyno dynamics... From what I hear that would be a bit over 400 on a dyno jet... I am going to upgrade to the 2.87 or 2.9 (non slip pulley) on stock internals.
