So would i still connect the ss box to the fuel return system to control it. Also anybody know how hard it would be to install the fuel return system and injectors?

Heres whats happening now. I have a Walbro 255, will then be self installing fuel return kit, 440cc injectors and 3.12 pulley while the ecu is being flashed at AAM then taking it to SGP so they can tune the SS Box.

Im pretty sure I will also be needing a smaller belt, anyone know the size of the belt that goes w/ the 3.12 pulley?

I think a 93 inch belt is what you need for the 3.12

I have always thought that the 2.87 pulley needed you to build your internals. After reading other post im confused on what i should get. I want to be right at 400 whp.

internals are fine with the 2.87, but IMO you need to make sure you have your ducks in a row. You should have good cooling, good fuel setup, good tune, good fuel/higher octane, possibly water injection, and some gauges to monitor things, not to mention good maintenance

Although, there is a chance that the Vortech FMU could stick and fail, I have never heard of one case of this happening. I have heard of fuel lines coming off, but so far the Vortech Supplied FMU has been rock solid.

A return fuel system with the 3.12 is overkill IMHO. Another option no one has mentioned is, you could get rid of the Vortech FMU and just run a Walboro alone without a fuel return system. The only problem with this is higher than normal fuel pressure at idle.

Your right, it may be overkill but for the saftey ill sacrifice. Also another guy is going to be using my FMU and i also have a credit with the shop that im buying it from. I still feel that the 2.87 may be to much on stock internals. I really just want 400whp. Can they do a conservative tune with the 2.87 to get it at 400?

They could, but your going to be running super rich. If you have cats, they will burn out very fast, since you will have so much unburnt fuel coming out of your exhaust. I've seen a couple people hit around 395 whp with the 3.12. Some even claim over 400whp, but its all relative.

Good cooling? as Intercooler, upgrade thermostat.....

Good tune- check

good fuel- use 93 octane

Water injection- not to sure how that works.

Gauges- check

Good maintenance- oil every 3K, spark plugs

Still debating on 2.87 pulley or 3.12.

Update:

Just got in yesterday my UTEC and injectors. Still need pulley and fuel return. Now would the 2.87 and water/meth injection be to much HP for stock internals?

Very good question... I think I am about to find out.

I know Sentry65 is running the 2.87 on the stock block with success...

Sentry's car isn't a DD. I think he only drives it on weekends and has a constant mix of 100 octane in his tank. Do you know anyone that has a 2.87 stock block daily driver?

Nope, not off the top of my head... My car is however a daily driver. I am running the 3.12 pulley and hitting 8.5 psi daily. During the winter I would hit as high as 10.5 w/ the 3.12 actually.

I just ordered my meth / water inj kit today and am going with a AAM return fuel kit, 550 injectors, walbro, 2.87 pulley (or 2.9 non slip design)... Also most likely a Utec if I can find a decent Utec Tuner in my area.

I have 72,000 miles on my car and 30K on my current Vortech set up.
