Finally Turbocharged My Sedan

Yes you read right. After dealing hearing all my co-workers and friends giving me a hard time about me not turbo charging my sedan I finally gave in almost 2 weeks ago. Attached are a few pics. Sorry for the crappy pics. I'll post better ones once I get a chance to wash my car. Props to Jesse at www.Turbokits.com for his support with this project.

nice work reggie. I like the location of your boost gauge.

I also like that you used a watercooled turbo, too. Very slick. Is that the 1st watercooled G35/350Z kit?

looks like a water cooled center section me.....see the bango fitting on the side....

The bearings are still oil fed for lubrication (fitting on the top of the turbo)

Thanks for the props guys.

I'm running a water cooled bearing housing. This is the first one that we have done here at Turbonetics. If it works out well we might consider changing our other kits to water cooled bearing housings as well. I'll keep you guys posted on that.

In terms of the gauge location and actual gauge. I was inspired by another member here on the boards with the location. I just had a location shop do a custom pod for me. The gauge itself is a new gauge that Turbonetics is about to release. Its pretty trick. You can set the display to be amber or hyper white.

Have you guys considered any turnkey sedan kits? I mean kit+ems+radiator+fuel ystem+etc? I know the existing kits mount fine, but I also understand there are differences between the sedan and coupe/z in regards to the fuel pump, plus likely others that I'm not even aware of.

Is there even a large enough market to warrant such a kit?

the fuel pump is a breeze on the sedan. you don't have to perform any of the "mods" in the TN instructions. Just get the pump in there, and you are good to go!

also, an upgraded radiator is totally unnecessary for this kit.......I never had any water temp fluctuations with my car when I had the TN ST on it.

Did you monitor water temps using the gauge, or did you datalog via some OBDII monitor? I'm just curious because the gauge was not accurate on my car. When I borrowed a techtom for logging, I noticed that my coolant temps would go from 170 to 220 depending on ambient and airflow, and the gauge never moved a millimeter.

Love the gauge pod and the intercooler setup......what other "supporting" mods are on the car...clutch? etc?

Well done...peer pressure is a GOOD thing in this i guess
