New Vortech upgrades...

K, guys just had my car tuned after having installed the 440cc injectors, Walbro 255 FP, and 3.12 pulley. She is putting down 386whp now (will post dyno results tonight). Now there is a few more things I want to add, just wondering what you guys think I should do in order of importance of the following:

-CJ Fuel Return System
-Tranny Upgrade
-ECU Reflash

So, do you feel a big difference? What does your Butt Dyno tell you about the power below 4k rpm?

the neat thing about upgrading the pulley on the vortech - or ATI for that matter is the same power comes on 500-700 rpms sooner than before and then goes on to reach a higher amount of power in the upper powerband.

The 2.87 pulley feels like a completely different car than the stock 3.33 pulley

the stock pulley is especially boring, the tq curve is pretty flat and bland from low to high rpms. Going to the 3.12 pulley starts raising the tq curve around 4500 rpms and then it stays flat to redline while being about 30 tq higher.

well just look at these graphs - first pic is 3.33 vs 3.12 (green vs blue)- the same tq that used to be available from 4300-5450 rpms is now available at 4100 rpms and then goes up 30 tq from there which is very noticable, especially near redline

2nd pic is 3.12 vs 2.87 pulley (red vs blue) - the same tq that was available at 4200 rpms is now available at 3700 rpms

these are both dynodynamics dynos BTW - they output lower numbers than what a dynojet would

Are you still on the Vortech supplied booster pump and FMU or did you take those out? How's your gas mileage? With the Walboro 255 and no fuel regulator, you fuel pressure at idle is going to be quite high compared to stock.

As you can see it starts to get lean after 6000RPM, so I haven't been able to experience power all the way to the top yet, been shifting at around 5600-5800 and the car just feels absolutely awesome. Even just slowly giving her gas there is a big difference in acceleration. AWESOME

Did you get rid of the aux. fuel pump and FMU that comes with the Kit ? Who tuned it ? If you can get the fuel preasure up a little , you can finish the tune to redline .

why would you go with a fuel return line? Upgrading the FMU takes out the need for this. I know GTM and a number of the other "tuners" on the forums have finally figured this out.

OP, what tranny upgrade are you thinking about? Simple valve body upgrade?

FMU is an old school way of getting the most out of your injectors. It's a simple solution but it can lead to many issues down the line (disk can get cog and stuck... then boom).

If u are a type of person that wants your motor to last I would at least upgrade to bigger injectors and walbro intank fuel pump and keep the aux pump if needed.

The FMU is fine but it's a risk I dont want to take or think about when I'm at WOT if it's going to take a dump.

As for upgrading the tranny, the upgraded VB will improve shift and also cause more heat toward the tranny. A large tranny cooler would be best or even 2 tranny coolers would do the trick if there is no room.
