thinking about pulling out my turbo kit...
okay, well i have t-netics single turbo kit on my '03 coupe. thinking about yanking it and going back stock. now, if i do, would i have to have my ecu flashed again? i was thinking if i sold it to someone, we could do a swap...his stock parts for my turbo parts...blah blah. would there be any obstacles i need to know about for doing the swap? i had a shop install my kit so i'm not sure what went down w/ the installation. too big of a risk for me to install.
You can't simply swap one ECU for another. They have electronic serial numbers that need to be registered in the car (I've heard) and at a bare minimum they store the transponder data. So, if you simply swap ECUs neither car will start.
a few reasons...
1-selling a turbo G is hard. i know weird?
2-seems alot o' peeps are interested in the t-kit. so, selling it separate might be better.
3-no tracks down here to race (oahu, HI) and rather not race on the streets.
plus i wanna use the money to pay off the car...

Well....I guess you never understood my post. I was thinking of selling my turbo kit. Initially I wanted to sell the car with the turbo kit but nobody wanted to buy it. So, I thought of selling just the turbo kit and then using that money to pay off the car...in other words, keeping the car... which was mentioned in my second post on this thread.
edit: I just re-read my second post...I guess it can sound like I still wanted to sell the G. Well, if I were to sell it again, I'd probably just trade it in at a dealership or something.

Why would a dealer or other trained person buy a used car [ever for a reasonable price] that has been abused by a turbo installed, run, and then removed................to make it look oem like.
My point is the stress damage will materially affect the long term life of components and not let the car offer full value potential to a used buyer.
Dealers are careful about selling used turbo/supercharged conversions back to oem LOOKING because they can be liable for future failures.......trying to pass off a previously moded car to an untrained buyer is a no no for professionals.
I'm not antimod just that the modded must live with the financial consequences or do a somewhat fraudulent private sale.
Members may not realize that they can be held liable by future buyers down the line for any emission mods that they did or had done.............if you present a passing emission certificate on a test piped or aftermarket performance cat with jeeped secondary O2 sensors and the buyer later fails because of something you did............. you may have committed a fraudulent transfer of title by your act of presenting a passing emission certificate.
It depends on your state and whether they go after you and how pissed a future buyer gets.
To launder a title make sure you sell to a dealer as they are deemed professional buyers and if they don't come back to you in 30 days your problems are now their problems and you are off the hook....maybe?
Otherwise you are stuck until the 80,000 mile expiration of oem emission warranty [this varies by sate].
