Pros and cons for the turbonetics kit #15150 from www.stillen.com

I’m in the market for another boosted vehicle my 03 6mt G35. This will be my 2nd car which will be fitted with a turbo system and this time I wanna keep everything close to the basic without going custom to save cost and keep it simple if I would have to pull the system.

My goal for my G35 is under 8k for everything including install. I know with the turbonetics kit I will see at least 390 wrhp. I’m not really looking for any high numbers cause I don’t want to open the 3.5L. So with the facts stated, who on the forms has this kit, thinking about getting this kit, or drove in a 350/G35 with the kit installed in the car?

turbonetics kit #15150

- I’m lookin for customer satisfaction about the kit (even if your is negative response)
- Is the kit feasible for the cost?
- How good is the maps form the re-flash of the ECU? Any information about upgraded maps?
- What have you noticed in boost levels, how does the car respond, any lag?
- Are you using the factory clutch, If so any slipping?
- What are your takes on the EVOTT exhaust system wit test pipes?

Over all I’m lookin to see if this kit would satisfy my needs for the cost spent.

Closing… here is a custom route I went with to build my BMW project..

Since you were probably pretty active on BMW forums, you should know how to search. There are tons of threads on this subject. It's a great kit, but like any other kit, has its problems and has blown motors. Don't buy it from Stillen though. I'm sure you can get a better deal through one of the sponsors on this site.

The Stillen is a great kit IMO. There are pros and cons to all the kits made for the VQ.

My #1 problem with the TN kit is the lag but you have had a ST BMW so you know about that. I still vote TT but $8k is not enough to do twins right.

Lag you say.. is it noticeable lag? they say with the BB. there is little to no lag.. well I guess ill have to see. yea 8k is my budget rt now. The TT is a nice set up but with the single turbo there is a lot of area for upgrades an I kinda think its cheaper then a TT setup.

+1 plus the lag is only in the beginning coz after that you never go below 4K RPM so lag is not an issue. Most of us lunch our car around 2.5K - 3.5K when doing drag so it is really not an issue. I guess for daily driving then all you have to do is downshift to hit your sweet spot

Oh, by the way I also went to the dark side I just ordered the new STS Turbo

I don't see any real problems with the TN kit. That's what I'm aiming for in a year or so. I hate superchargers, especially the roots type (the stillen one). probably can't pull 700 hp out of the TN single turbo kit like the tt kits, but frankly 500hp out of a G is good for me since I want the new GT-R once I get done with school.

p.s. The turbo M3's are freaking sick!!!

You probably could. As long as you could phyically fit a turbo big enough to support that hp level.

Reason I went with the STS and not TN.

1. Only come with a Reflash. Not good especially if you're not stock and you are in the North East.
2. Number One concern is the Overboost/spike with TN. Lots of TN has problem with boost spike and that is even with the new overboost relocation pipe.

If you really want the TN kit then I'll definitely get the tuner kit and get a better EM like Utec and bigger injector.

this is the irony when some people will occasionally knock the vortech or ati because they have to be reved high to make high boost even though to go fast with a turbo you gotta downshift and rev high anyway

^ He is one hell of a driver and did have slicks.

He also now has a TT kit and is much happier.
