few quick question about FI
few quick question about FI
Ok so I'm looking to go FI really soon I think I'm decided on the vortech. Where is a good place to buy one? I was looking at superchargersonline.com are they any good or does it matter? Also I have an 06 5AT there is no 06 listed on there only 03,04,05 rev-up, which one would I get the 04? If I buy the complete kit from my understanding is I don't need anything else to get up and going, is that right? The current mods I have are in my sig will I be ok using those with just installing the kit as it comes? I have searched and been reading a lot lately I just want to make sure I am understanding everything correct because it is a descent sized investment and don't want to mess it up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Dunno about the different years. . .but:
Get a wiring harness if you want to use the Split Second box
http://www.superchargersonline.com/p...umber=ASW-350Z
Get the tapped oil pan, so you don't have to drill your block.
http://www.superchargersonline.com/p...SP&tabactive=1
I don't see why it wouldn't work with your mods. . .you'll just want to get it tuned.
Good luck!

yup, the 40% tint and 3 TV's will work excellent with FI
hehe jk
you'd only have to sell the CAI
superchargersonline is great, but I don't think there's a G35 version of the 2006 kit yet. You can probably make the 350Z kit fit though, but don't take my word for it. If you want a vortech, you might wait a few months and see if the G35 kit comes out - probably will since it's going to be so similar to the 350Z

Check www.performancefactory.com or IM Audible Mayhem at my350z.com. He does give good price. Last time i checked I got a quote for Vortech kit (tuner Kit) for 3599, utec for 750, map sensor for 90, walbro for 90, and 3.12 pulley for 85, 450 for 650cc injector dollars all shipped. Don't know if the price is the same right now.
There is no such thing as an "06" kit. There's kits for the revup engine (6MT >05) and non-revup(all 5AT and 6MT < 05). The only difference is the rev-up engine has a different pulley design so the bracket is different. The 04 kit will work on your 06 5AT. Any slight differences can be easily altered by a shop that knows what they're doing.
Also, do NOT get the oil pan with the hole already drilled. It places the hole in such a location that you may have oil starvation to the compressor due to lack of oil pressure. A good shop can tap the block no problem.

Almost exactly what I was going to say.
So all that leaves me with is... +1

Also, you can even buy a used 03/04 kit and just buy the rev-up pulley assembly and bracket. It's been done. All of the piping and compressors are the same. The ONLY significant difference is the bracket. But, like I said, all of the 5AT engines are the same, so you can use "any year" kit as long as it's not for the rev-up.
Try this:

last I heard that was the entire reason vortech had to redesign the kit for the rev-up engine - that you couldn't even mount the earlier bracket on the rev-up engine

No, we are talking non-rev up 06' so it's the same.

It is still better to go above the standing oil level to create less back pressure for the return line. It's not required but better.
ANY model year Vortech kit will fit as long as it's not specificly for the rev-up...PERIOD
Whether or not you need anything else is up to you. I had the Vortech, so I've been there. This is what I recommend:
bigger injectors if you're going to use the 3.12 pulley (stock injectors will be at a really high duty cycle)
Oil pan spacer (I suggest without a tap, but it's up to you)
Boost, AFR, and EGT or Oil pressure (EGT is unnecessary for SC's imho) gauges
last, but not least...TUNE, TUNE, TUNE! The SS box works fine, but you need someone who knows how to tune. I can point you in the right direction
EDIT: If you come to the meet at Soldier's Field Road on June 2nd, you can ask all the questions you want.
I had the Vortech, then ditched it for a built engine and TT. I've been down this road twice now.
