Vortech Cog Setup...is up and running

As most of you probably know I bought the cog setup from Derek from DSport Mag. The system didnt work out for Derek . I believe the bigest problem was the belts them selves were to narrow and couldnt handle the high rev's he wanted [ 7500 to 8000rpm ] and the boost level that was trying to be obtained [ around 26psi ] .
By reducing the boost and the rpms to 6800 to 7000 rpm's . The belts show no signs of snapping and premature wear . I did several WOT runs to redline and I think its going to work great . The Zetronix showed 20psi on the peak and hold . But it can be off by 1 or 2 psi . So logging a few runs will really tell .
My shop wants my car for the week end to put into thier booth at a car show . Along with a 350Z with a TN turbo kit on it . And an EVO that makes a ton of HP . So further tuning will be held off for a few days . Im pretty pumped about getting this thing tuned .Two more things to complete and I'll be pretty much done . 1-a new EMS 2-a new set of wheels and tires [ wanting a new look ]

That's awesome. Can't wait to see the outcome.

How far did D-sport get with that set-up? Wasn't a little over 500?

Never heard of that trim....the T-trim with the heavy duty gears is already to much with the cog setup

at 6000rpm he made 490whp and I heard a little over 500whp rpm not known . Like Ive said plenty of times . The higher you spin the blower and the more boost it makes . The harder it is to turn the blower . Thats why his belts kept snapping at upper rpm and boost levels . If he was able to use wider stronger belts , he could have got it to work . My shop did a Vortech Cog setup on a Dodge Darango and it had 2 1/2 or 3 inch wide belts on it . My cog belts are 20 mil. wide.....lol

Sweet. That is some good power from a blower like that.

Do you have a built motor?

Yes I have a built motor . My whole goal is just to reduce the stress on the other Alt. and power streering pulleys . With the serp system and trying to run over 12 psi , the belts had to be soooo dam tight . The other pulleys wouldnt last long . As long as I run the SS box , I'll never really see what kind of power I can make . After 16psi I have to be way to safe because it only goes to 16psi . After that psi...the SS box holds at the last setting

Those are better but I would not say they are worth it for the 3X price tag.

I have seen many 600+whp G's and Z's on UTEC including one done by UMS Tuning right here in Phoenix. He drives it daily and is 100% happy.

Just my opinion but I will admit that if I had an extra $2k to blow I might have one of them.

BTW AEM still says their kit is not released.

Sound Performance is the one that is selling the AEM EMS . They alter it and make a plug and play harness for it . Think they said it comes with every thing needed . From what Ive seen and heard about the AEM , its a better option for people not living by a F-con dealer/tuner . The AEM can be tuned by any good tuner that has worked with it before .

Went to the car show to pick up the car today . They were doing the final dyno run for the shoot out they had . A sentra did 55xwhp and 240 did 657whp . A 06 or 07 corvette was the last to dyno....lol . Sometihng was wrong with it , or Mike clamped that Mustang dyno down on him . He only did 298whp . It didnt sound quite right .

Went out and did a logging run today with the bigger pulley on the blower . I made 16psi at 6100rpm's . I was at 18psi at 6000rpm last time . So I think IIm still making to much for the SS box to control and Im going to put on a even bigger pulley . But with a EMS that can control more boost...this will be the right pulley and will not snap belts off of it .
