The earlier the better I think. I FI'ed at 15,000.
My prediction is not a result of the VQ, but FI cars in general, and most seem to get bugs and quirks around 50,000 [or around 50,000 after its been FI'ed if it wasn't from factory].
The car is just going to be put though more stress and get beat on more [because NA is so boring!... how many times can you keep flooring it?] But with a turbo there is always something you can be messing with and then going out to try it... boost is addicting.
Anyway, go ahead and do it. For most people its worth it, but just MY own opinion be ready for expensive upgrades around 60,000miles.

7000 miles is tooo late??? If so, my car is ancient
In my limited knowledge, I think that as long as you kept the car well maintained (oil changes, tune-ups, etc) it's not "too late" to go FI on a car. Keep in mind that there are some people who have run over 40K miles on FI.
Then again, I could be completely wrong.

There really is no to late or to early, mine has been fi,ed for about 25,000 mile on the various stillen stages.I have the greddy twins on know and have 47,000 miles,it all comes down to how you maintain your car.If you go fi def use a top quality oil either dino or preferably synthetic.
I put my tn kit on at somewhere around 40k or 50k I think, followed by my greddy kit pretty soon after that on a different 60k+ motor (that was rebuilt however) There people othere that have started later with their motors, too many factors to consider. Just make sure you do it right the first time to minimize problems, headaches, regrets....

Just be sure you do plenty of research and have plenty of money [that means not having 'just enough' but a few bones over]. Take the advice 2slo gave, do it right the first time... its more expensive in the moment, but A LOT cheaper in the long run. [I spent another 4K getting mine retuned and looked over after a bad install and tune because the new shop didn't know what in the world the first one screwed up on!!!]
^ haha im lucky i have the zcargarage near my house and i know they know how to build it, as for now i ahve about 5000 to spend i know thats not enough so i was thinking of either going for a kit and some rims and a drop or maybe just wait and save for FI i dont know its so complicated i wish i could do ALL of it haha
if you plan on going FI in the future, just hold off for now until you have the funds for a complete build...it'll save you money and downtime, both in short- and long-term
It's never too late. We have done TT's on VQ35's with 65K miles of NA use. As long as the engine is well maintained, and has good compression and leakdown numbers, you should be good to go. The VQ35 is designed to run for 200K miles.
