A few FI Questions

I am looking into turboing my G, but I was wondering what other parts you need besides the turbo kit itself. you need bigger injectors and 3'' exhaust, right? is there anything else you need to to turbo the car right, so i can use it for everday use. Thanks in adavance!

but to answer: good EMS, guages, fuel return (depending on HP goals), clutch/flywheel combo...possibly built motor (again, depending on HP goals). But the most important expense is looking for a reputable shop to install and tune your car. Hell, even if you bought top of the line parts, if you have a Mickey Mouse shop install your parts, you're pretty much asking for a blown motor.

like usingthejohn said, find a shop that can back up their work and have alot of experience turbocharging, especially on VQ platforms that would be a big plus.

If you are staying with a stock motor, and the car is a daily driver... my suggestion would be going to a full kit that includes a good EMS/ tune out of the box. only supporting mods that I would say you will need would be gauges to monitor the car (ie. boost, a/f, exhaust temp) and a nice clutch/flywheel setup, especially if the car has accumulated alot of mileage.

the main thing to consider is your budget and hp goals. we've done so jwt tt and turbonetics st that i can pretty tell you how much the job is going to cost with what goals you are tryin to achieve, it might cost a lil more for some things that we recommend but its to keep the motor happy, i'd rather overbuild a little than be underbuilt with a blow motor. =)

hope that helps a little.

GinFLA-Give Jeremy @ Performance Factory a call. They are in Florida and will be able to hook you up with whatever you need. And like rcdash said, go over to my350z.com and go to their FI section. There is a lot more info because there are a LOT more FI'd 350z's than G35's. Good luck.

If it's an automatic, you **MAY** need an upgraded TB (or whatever it's called..i never really researched that) to handle the increased HP/TQ

Well it kinda depends on what your goals are. The more hp you want, the more you are gonna need, including $$$.

+1 on bringing it to a Nissan/VQ35 specialized shop

I hear way too many stories of people bringing their kit that random honda performance shop down the street and "leaving with a sour taste". In one case, one guy brought his G for a vortech install and the shop had it there for 5 months!

Hey there is nothing wrong with the at trans,my greddy twins spool up faster and stay spooled more then with a mt.Dave at functiontuned who did the tune also said that the auto will stay in boost more then the mt cause of the rpm drop between shifts with the mt.He compared 3 diff mt,s dyno,s with my dyno and i stayed consistently into the same psi more then the 6mt,s.Know of course the 6mt,s made more power at the same psi because of the inherent loss of the auto.

450whp is pushing it for the stock block, you may want to consider a build to go that far. The 5AT is a risk as well at that power level unless you do a valve body upgrade and maybe a better tranny cooler.

400whp is a good goal for a stock block with a safe tune. If you want much over that, get ready to spend a lot more!
