surprised this thread has lasted this long. Why would you want to 'hide' gauges that you're installing for the sole purpose of monitoring engine vitals? Sure some have audible alerts, but i'm sure most people are installing gauges so that they can 'see' what's going on with the engine.

I have my gauges on top of my gauge cluster, and I'll tell you, as easy as it it to glance over, i often don't even do that for me not wanting to take my eyes off the road (especially under boost). That's why I never understood owners that put gauges on the passenger side or even glove compartment. I understand that it might score big 'show' points, but it simply can't be that practical to turn your head and completely take your eyes off the road to glance at some gauges that are probably mounted further than optimal viewing distant from the driver seat. just my 2 cents, but to each his own

I totally agree and went against the A pillar because it kinda obstruct some of my vision. I think with so many people rocking gauges these days that nobody would think "oh, he got gauges, must be fast..". I got the black out Prosport gauge so they completely blackout when off to go into stealth mode . granted my FMIC gives it away..haha fail

Being from california, and owning a pretty highly modified evo. Many of us put gauges in places hard to see incase we got pulled over. Laws in California will completely destroy you for anything that isn't stock. From clear corners to boost.

My boost gauge was an oldschool a'pexi that didn't even light up. It was just a very faint glow in the dark needle at night.

honestly, putting the gauges on top of the steering column is the way to go. very easy to monitor what's going on (we're already used glancing into that area anyway) and no one can see them from outside the car.

^^+1.
"low key" is important when in CA. All of my displays can be hidden from view even from inside the car.

The other reason I think you be hide them a bit, Is so people will not breakin the car, I know it was a one off, But a will ago I had my gauges on my A pillar, Park in Downtwon Boston , Someone Broker in Stole all my gauges, and turbo timer( Old Evo). The just ripped everythign out It was DEC had to drive home with a missing Drivers window, Wasnt fun.

Where mine our now , With them off you cant see them at all, I have tints ( Legal 35) But there are the digtal gauges and whem off they are blacked out.

^ there's a good spot to hide turbo timers in the evo. That little compartment below the steering wheel just by your left knee lol.

Knocking on wood, I haven't had any issue with the piggys around the bay. My gauges are in a custom 3 piece pod above my clock bezel with black-out guages when turn off. Only drivers on my side can actually see them as they are tilted towards me for better viewing. I also have a kill switch when I want to go stealth mode at night.

I have been next to cops many times and never had any issue. I try not to make eye contact with them. It looks stock this way as oppose to the pillar pods. Plus my vortech has a silencer mod that takes about 75% of the sound away so the piggys can hear it at all, except when I floor it.

My blower does have a carb# but I prefer not to be showing it to the piggys becuase they will just look at my headers and tp then im toast.

It wasn't so easy with an Evo.

As for your test pipes. I gutted a cat and wrapped that around the test pipe so it looked like one.
