i gotta say, mounting the gauges on the steering column (or thereabouts) is the best way to go. that location has made it much easier for me to keep an eye on the tach while still monitoring my gauges. you naturally glance down at the cluster while driving anyway, so i find it much more comfortable as well.

it seems like one of the best areas to place gauges, except that it would partially block some of my stock gauge cluster. I know somebody mentioned it on page 1 but has anybody here actually mounted gauges in their sunglass holder...?

^ its not too bad, but you do have a point. it also depends on what year you have - IIRC, the stock gauges for 03 - 04s are flipped relative to the 05+ coupes and first gen sedans.

Pix of my '05 stock cluster with the gauges in front...the important parts of my tach and speedometer are easy to view:

normal viewing distance

way closer than normal viewing distance

looks pretty clean bigc, I like how that turned out for you. I have an 06 so i think our cluster is the same, but I want to put in 3 gauges so im thinking about shoving them in that non-nav cubby if I cant get my hands on a top-of the-clock pod...I will keep your setup in mind though.

I've got my boost controller mounted in the sunglass holder, but thats not one of those things you need to observe continuously so I wouldn't recommend putting anything else up there.

I agree, the sunglass holder is a horrible place to put a gauge. Don't really want to be looking up at the roof to monitor anything! PK, you can hit up mextep, and he will contact R&J for you. They will make the over the clock gauge pod for you. Big C's setup is real clean as well. That was my second choice if I didn't go with the Zeitronix.
