Just got myself a nice little upgrade. Big thanks to Performance Factory and Altered Atmosphere! Here's my setup:

06 5AT Coupe
Vortech SC tuner kit w/3.12 pulley
HKS SSQV (BOV)
UTEC (w/MAP sensor)
AAM throttle body spacer (w/vacuum tap)
AAM oil pan spacer (tapped for SC oil line)
Deatsch Werks 440cc Injectors
NGK iridium spark plugs (one step colder)
Walbro fuel pump
MD plenum spacer (5/16")
Crawford HFCs

AAM was able to pull out 364 whp. I've been having a blast since I picked it up. I'm really surprised at how smoothly the car upshifts, as long as I ease into WOT, there aren't any transmission issues when accelerating. Downshifting is a different story though, if I let off the gas from a moderate cruise (say 30-40 MPH), there's some jerkiness. All in all I love it though. My only qualm is with the HKS BOV. It's great if you want to scare the **** out of the person next to you, but I don't know if it's practical.

What do you guys think about transmission fortifications? Am I in a range where a transmission cooler and VB upgrade may not be necessary? That's my only big concern.

How many miles do you have on it?

I'm going to get the SGP VB and a trans cooler just for longevity's sake. Anything to help now will help in the future.

Or you can go til ya blow, and get a completely beefed trans (SGP, SFR, GTM are the ones that I can think of off the top of my head that do it.)

Did they change the pulley setup? It looks different.

AAM has been pretty good to me, they installed everything in 3 days!

I drive pretty conservatively in heavy traffic (which is basically 95% of the time in my area), so I'm not too worried about the law.

Yeah, but you need to get a flange and have it welded it on:

Not sure (I'm assuming you mean Vortech), maybe the guys at Performance Factory know?

Pretty interesting. I might have to look into that down the road.

Congrats-looks awesome! Have an AT '06 also, thinking of the doing the same thing, and just curious: What intake and exhaust are you running? And if youi don't mind, what did the whole package run you after all finished?

FI don't use Intake.

Hmmm, I wonder if Vortech changed the pulley setup because of all the belt issues people were having? I guess I'm the guinea pig!

Hopefully the transmission can hold up for a few more months, doubt I could dump that much cash into it anytime soon. I may be able to add the cooler as a first step though.

The only thing intake-wise that didn't come with the Vortech kit is the AAM throttle body spacer, which has a vacuum tap (line) that connects to the UTEC Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. The UTEC gets both MAF and MAP measurements now - I went this route to control fuel and ignition timing instead of a reflash. Exhaust-wise, all I have are Crawford high flow cats. The total package was about $6.9K installed (but I can't say who charged what, wouldn't be fair to the vendors). But keep in mind that I already had the UTEC, plenum spacer, and HFCs. Overall, I think it was a pretty good deal.

You are saying that you already had the UTEC and still cost you 7K for everything?

Audible Mayhem quoted me a while back for 5K for (vortech kit for 3599, utec for 750, map sensor for 90, walbro for 90, and 3.12 pulley for 85 and 650 inj. 450 all shipped) Don't know how much is the Oil pan Spacer and BOV and Labor but I think it's an OK deal not a great dear for 7K without UTEC.

Yeah, the TB spacer, oil pan spacer, BOV, and BOV flange added to the parts cost. I also got NGK iridium plugs (one step colder) - forgot to mention that (added above), so we've got parts and labor for those too. Labor included a weld job for the BOV and a UTEC tune.

Given the "extras" I got, I don't think it was too bad.

P.S. Had my idle raised to 900 RPM with Cipher too, so that was an extra cost. My head is spinning lately! Too many things to keep track of.
