What part do I need?

To take my boost from 4.5 pounds to 9+?

I've got an OLDSCHOOL unichip, if that makes a difference.

You need a boost controller to raise the boost. I have Utec and using a 4.5 spring on my WG and using UTEC BCS to raise my boost. The only advantage of using Utec BCS with Utec is that on one flip of the switch you have your Boost setting together with the Map tuned for that boost.

I'm looking at Apexi AVC-R Black Electronic Boost Controller. I would stick with an EBC.

Product Description

The Super AVC-R is the premium closed-loop electronic boost controller on the market. The AVC-R allows flexible control over virtually every aspect of boost control and adds new innovative functions such as injector pulse monitoring and gear specific boost control. Some key functions include: RPM-based boost and solenoid duty cycle control, scramble boost, self learning mode, 2D ghost map trace mode, analog display mode, real time replay and peak hold data modes. The AVC-R utilizes an ultra-fast microprocessor and a high quality solenoid valve to control boost. The result is ultra-fast response and accurate, stable boost control.

Manual bc's work fine! However, changing boost settings with the flip of a switch isn't really possible... Get any EBC, dtec, apexi, greddy, hks, etc..... or you could just get new wg springs and tune for it....

I don't want to change the boost with a flip of the switch-- I want the most basic boost controller that will do the job, I don't want anything expensive-- just something that will do the job.

If you're not going to change Boost setting a lot then the cheapest way is just change the wastegate spring to 9lbs and tune your car with it.

Ohhh I didn't know that affected the boost-- Can you change it on the 'stock' greddy wastegates on the TT kit?

Yes, you can change the spring. STS came with the 7lbs spring, meaning that will be the lowest boost it can go. People (Like my setup) put a lower spring so that we can boost lower and have our boost controller ramp the boost to what ever we want.

I have a 4.5 WG spring (for my low boost setting) and Utec BCS is set to 8lbs (For my high boost setting) on one of my Maps.
