I know a lot of people will probally advise me to just buy a turbo kit right out (which I will do) but my curiosity lead me to ask this question. How many G/Z owners here have peiced together a turbo kit for their VQ's or know some one that has? Most parts can be found online and I am aware that there is some custom fabrication of piping and other things that go along with it. So please share your pros and cons and experiences. Thanks!

the question is: why?
fabbing pipes is a PITA and will probably cost you the same if not more
Especially if you're doing twins. There's a couple guys on my350z that were doing it, but I don't think anyone's done it except shops doing one-offs. Getting a turbo, IC core, wastegate, etc is easy...it's welding all the piping that's time consuming and expensive.

Just wanting to know why someone would do it. The headaches involved and so on and so fourth. there's a guy that I work with who owns a 350z and is talking about doing it so I figured why not just post a thread, see the responses and then show it to him.

you're not gonna get many replies cause it's just not worth it unless you're a shop

You design, engineer and build something like this only because it isn't available in kit form or you enjoy the effort. It isn't a way to save money even if you know what your doing and the knowledge/skill level required is beyond most peoples ability. If it looks easy you are either one of those rare individuals with such ability or just don't understand.

funny you ask this, because I was thinking about doing this a few months ago. For a little fun project, etc. but after I thought about it more, I realised it wasn't worth it so I'm still stuck trying to figure out which kit I wanna go with.
I have to agree with the other guys. You would have more into it trying to make all the pipe than just getting a nice proven kit off the shelf.
I actually have a well known custom turbo fabricator guy on the back burner but just wanted a little insight.
If you can have some pipe made for a good price, you can make the best kit out there. Are you thinking ST or TT? TT has so much pipe...
