Turbo X????

Tired of searching, Can anyone give me any info on turbo charging the g35x? I got a great mech working with me on my 04 G35X but I have not read anything about how the Greddy TT bolts up to the AWD. I see it works great on the sedan w/ 5AT but how does the AWD fit in there. CAN IT BE DONE! Any help would be appreciated..

Anything can be done... You just need an installer that is willing to work around all the obstacles and the bucks to pay him to do it.

Same here, I'd like some advice/info for my 05x. Plan on doing some engine work down the line.

An AWD TT would be just plain sick - go for it!

Just call one of the top shops in your area and ask them about possibilities and for a quote. I would recommend contacting one or two of the sponsors active on these boards that are within driving distance for you:

Sharif @ Forged Performance for the southeast (Atlanta, GA)
Julian @ MRC for the northeast (NJ)
Jeremy @ Performance Factory for south Florida
George or Sam @ GT Motorsports and Tim @ Speed Force Racing for west coast
Mark or Thomas @ SGP for Texas
Tuan @ GRD in upper Midwest (Chicago, IL)

EDIT: also search sister site www.my350z.com because there are more project cars and FI activity there (AND the search functionality is better cause you can look up 3 character words).

Thanks rcdash, I have a set price on parts and install with this guy and he may want to see it done maybe even more than I do. I will keep you all informed with as many pics and specs but it will probably be a few more weeks before anything starts to get pulled apart..

+1 on Sam @ GT Motorsports and searchin my350z.

Good time to contact GTM cos theyre working on my 04 g35x wit JWT TTs and will probably give u a realistic idea on how the Greddy kit could fit. Of course it'll need alot of custom work.....so it wont be cheap. If yor really intersted in F1 i'd sell the X and get a g35c or 350z. or wait for the new GTR cos it'll end up costing about the same

My mech has a lot of experience w FI but never a g35x. From what we saw the trouble looks like its gonna be w the ECU and maybe the front oil pan and axles. What was your budget if u dont mind i ask. Have you got a chance to run yours yet?

Does he have any experience on a G35/350Z? Or just the VQ engine? If not I would NOT go to him. Go to a shop that has had plenty of experience in the VQ or else you're destined for something to go wrong. I am sure everyone will agree with me on this.

Depends what kind of hp you lookin for. If your considerin TT then obviously 400-450whp would be ideal...since you'll wantb to get your money's worth If not, then just get SC. As far as cost, consider the cost of a RS4 or GTR and subtract the cost of g35x for ~$35K and your pretty close to cost. This is due to being AT and then AWD...so alot of drivetrain loss. which means running higher 14-15psi which means probably having to build your internals especially if your going to track it. Car is not really made for track since its so heavy but ill probably track once to see what it could do on 1/4mile.

I would seriously do more research and not just listen to yor mech. ECU shouldnt be problem if u have FCON. which shop is he? Not sure where your located but I'd talk to either GTM or sharif@Forged. its not gonna be just bolt-on...your shop also needs to be experienced in tuning a AT VQ35.

My experience hasnt been easy....cars at GTM right now getting more work done. see this thread:

You're taking a big risk if you pick someone who doesn't have A LOT of experience with the VQ35. Pick someone on that list, you'll save time and money - trust me... good luck.

Yeah I see what youre sayin,He has done a lot of work with 350Z. But I dont think any of those were AT. I have considered another car to build, something easier, but how badass would a TT X be! I am still putting the money together so it will be a little while. Time to research! I am worried that the xmission/AWD wont be able to keep up with the hp without a lot of work. More $$$

Wow, that tread is my worst nightmare! I love my G so if I cant get a shop who really knows what they're doing... f*ck it. I'll use the money for cool toys ie. engine building. not looking good for the X..
