Ready to buy an ATI Procharger but have a few ???

I'm finaly ready to buy the ATI but now that I'm ready to pull the trigger I have more questions than answers.

What else should I be considering when I purchase the ATI? Do I also need the TS ECU? What about the J&S UltraSafeguard?
I have also been reading about changing out the plugs and injectors on one of the 350z boards. Is this also required?

Has anyone found the ATI for less than $5350 from Intense Motorsports?

Thanks in advance!

From my350Z.com I learned that to get the most of the ATI, 380CC injectors (PE), TS flash for whatever psi you run and headers to muffler work to open her up to about 400 RWHP. Search 12secz on that site.

My advice is to save yourself about $1000 and get the Vortech kit. It includes timing control and has a programmable piggyback ECU if you want to custom tune for best performance/safety. The ATI kit on the G35 doesn't get you anywhere near 400rwhp and its intake filter is a complete kludge.

I have the 5AT tranny and I do not think that Vortech has released one for the auto yet.

The Vortech can get 400rwhp? I've seen that # for the crank but for the rear wheels that's huge!

Re: Ready to buy an ATI Procharger but have a few ???

On my other car I have a vortech SC. It seems that ATI rushes their products to production before all the bugs are worked out. On the Corvette forum a tuner basically did a complete redo on the factory ATI kit because it had so many issues (overheating, belt slippage, you name it)
I have had zero issues with vortech. I will do the Vortech kit once its ready for 5AT. Cant wait.
400RWHP does seem pretty steep. What boost lbs are these guys running. The cars come stock at 260HP(289HP for the Z's) which is around 230-250RWHP I can see adding a solid 40-50% running around 6-8lbs but these guys are talking about an 80% increase in HP.

To clarify, I'm not claiming that the Vortech kit on the G35 will get 400rwhp either.

On the G35, you can expect about 360rwhp from either kit assuming both are tuned properly. If you have other mods (headers, no cats, dual exhaust) you can expect a bit more.

Vortech has the kit out for the AT5 and it is tuned conservitive may be 350hp to the wheels .If you can find some one with the Split Second R4 soft wear to tune it ...you can get 390whp.Im puttting on one this spring and I think I may go with the Perfect Power piggy back instead of the SS .

Couldnt afford it when young...gonna play when Im old

Not without a lot of other aftermarket modifications, you can't. There have been two custom tunes of the R4 software on a Vortech G35 that I know of and neither one got within 30 hp of that number and they were both 6MTs.

does anyone have a shot of the ATI intercooler? I thought I saw one on here 4 months ago but I can't find it anywhere. Do I remember correctly that it gets mounted to one side?

Re: Ready to buy an ATI Procharger but have a few ???

I posted this a couple weeks ago, but I'll post it here since I think this issue needs to be addressed:

Ziel Motorsports, the US distributor for JIC Magic, has identified a problem with the Procharger's stock bypass valve...The valve leaks, possibly not in all of them, but at least the one they installed...This problem was corrected by installing a TiAL Sport blow-off valve on the intercooler discharge pipe (downstream of the MAF)...I still think this system is superb, but since I came across the info I felt it necessary to make others aware

The TiAL 50mm BOV is available for anywhere between $200 and $250, in case anyone plans to use the exact same fix as Ziel

Re: Ready to buy an ATI Procharger but have a few ???

The 6MT has 280HP. It seems to me that the AT owners forget that our stick cars have more HP. Since people on the board have manuel cars, they can get 400HP on the default boost... from what I hear. Also, vortech > ATI. ATI is more money and vortech is a better Supercharger.

Thanks - Joey Avino

The stick just gets more of the ponies to the ground, both cars have the same engine.
I'm starting to switch to the Vortech camp as well. I have been talking with DJ at Vortech and apparently all you have to do to get the SC to fit in the AT is modify the discharge tube around some AC lines.
