well its a start: vortech dyno

boost leaks FTMFL!! Thanks to Jeremy at Performance Factory for tuning. Post 6000 rpms is a good reason why to get stuff installed by guys that do it for a living. Once i get the leaks sorted, I;ll try to get retuned and dyno'd by a shop a lil closer and post the results.

not bad
you'd obviously hit 400whp once you get the boost leaks figured out - could sometimes also be fuel or belt slip issue when you see power dropping off like that at the top, but jeremy would know better than me

Good numbers, especially for a "start". What breathing mods do you have? Pulley size?

.

What psi did you hit ? Boost leaks with Vortech shouldnt be a problem that a screw driver cant fix . Nothing but hose clamps to tighten up . There is the possibility that you have a leak in the plenum gasket area , or if you put in a extra vacuum port . Other than that , I would tighten up your serp belt .

To add to the boost leak thing . I have only 12 in of vacuum at idle [ cams ] with no boost or vacuum leaks . Im running 20+ psi of boost on the stock hose clamps that came with the Vortech . T-bolt clamps are basicly for looks . The only way to find out if you have a boost leak , is to preasurize the whole system and check it with the motor off . Trying to check or hear for boost leaks while in boost on a dyno is impossible .

ye Jeremy and AJ tightened up my serp belt and felt comfortable with it, or at least didnt tell me i needed to get a shorter one.

i did just order a set of t bolt clamps just to make sure. for $40 its worth it for my piece of mind i guess. Jeremy was less than pleased with plenum spacers on boosted cars, so that might be coming off as well. He said they always leak.

when u pressurize the system, do you also have to cork the exhaust? i plan on doing a pressure and smoke test when i get back home.

dont know what the boost was as Jeremy tuned it. I will try to find out. I bet not over 9 psi though.
thanks guys!

Yess...you do have to plug up the exhaust . Its hard to get it capped off good enough not to leak out the back . I used a 2.5 in piece of metal or PVC pipe [ can be found at any hardware store ] cap that off with a air compressor fitting tapped in the end . Disconnect the inter cooler pipe right before the BOV and hook up the home made pipe there . Set your air compressor to about 40psi . You'll find any leak in the plenum , IC pipes , exhaust....any where .

well, of course that dyno is followed by more bad news. driving back to my buddy's today, the impeller decided to rub out the housing. My blower serial # fell in the range for suspected bad bearings. Threw the car right into limp mode. AT least 20 mph was fast enough to get me the mile back to the house. A couple hrs of no battery time and the code reset and at least the car starts anmd I can make my 600 mile drive home on monday.

The impeller didnt break up, so again at least i dont have metal flakes floating in my engine.

wish me luck on my drive home. ANyone know what vortech needs for the warratny work? receipt, RMA # ????

Thanks@!

I hope you are not gonna drive home with the SC messed up like that. That's a very bad idea.

I know. I just wasn't sure if that's what he was going to do. But he explained over on my350z.com that's what he was gonna do. Drive home with the cog belt off.

ya i pulled over and pulled the belt as soon as i heard the funny noise. with all the people on here with popped blowers and my serial # fallin into the suspected range,i was sorta 1/2 expecting it. Caught it before any of the impeller blades sheared and went MIA.

i guess thats also nice about the blower, pull the cog belt and you can still get where u need to go.

Any time I drive in the winter , I drive the car with out the blower belt on . In fact I drove it to work last night . It was covered in frost this morning...lol . That doesnt happen to often . With the all cog pulley system , it still sounds like the blower is still running with out the air rushing noise
