Help me decide what should be gauge number 3!?!?
I just had my Turbonetics kit installed, and I'm slowly getting around to getting gauges. I already got a tripple gauge pod, and Innovative Wideband from forum members. So I already have a wideband, and I know I want a boost gauge, I just cant decide what to get to fill the third slot.
What do you think would be best for my setup????
-Oil Temp.
-Oil Pressure
-Fuel Pressure
-E.G.T (exhaust gas temp)
-Other, and please let me know why.
Keep in mind that I already have a Wideband, and I know I'm going to get a boost gauge.
Thanks,
-Tom

G35 don't come with an Oil Pressure Gauge like the 350Z so you want to know if you are getting low on Oil or if there is not enough pressure. One of the # one cause of Engine damage is Oil starvation so you want to keep an eye of your oil level. TN is in your Engine bay and that really increase the heat inside so you want to keep an eye on your oil temp too. All those gauges has its purpose so you have to decide which one is important to you
I have a Wideband, Boost and Oil Pressure and I'm thinking of adding an EGT and Fuel Pressure. I prefer EGT and Fuel Pressure coz I do monitor my A/F and timing a lot and those gauges will help me with my adjustment.

It honestly depends on what is the most important to you. I personally run oil pressure, boost, and egt. I like my egt gauge because it helps me montor how my car runs with the amount of timing I am running at the time. Oil temp is good to know though too because coolant temp is not always the best. Just my .02 cents...

Heres how I see it....
Oil Temp - will let me know when the oil is warmed up and I can start boosting, also will lret me know if I'm overheating.
Oil Pressure-Lets me know if I have a bad oil line fitting, and if there is a problem with the oil system, will help me to not blow the motor/turbo because of no oil.
Fuel- will let me know when to lay off the throttle, and if my injectors are maxed out, of if an injector gets stuck open.
EGT- gives me an overall gauge to see how hot the motor and turbo are running.
They are all important, and if I could I would buy them all, but I dont want to put all of the money out right now.

Oil pressure, because the G35 doesn't have oil press.
However, I would recommend getting more than 3 gauges. I have 5 in my G; 3 in an A-Pillar pod, and then 2 more in a single DIN mount below my radio (see my cardomain page for pics) I have Oil Temp, Oil press, boost, wideband, and fuel press. All 5 of those have been helpful indiagnosing various problems, and I would definitely recommend getting them.

It depends. Even with an oil cooler, when I track my G, the oil gets pretty warm, and oil temps are a much better indicator of the actual engine temps then the water temp is. So, if you have space, get an oil temp gauge. However, I still stand by my original statement, that an oil pressure gauge is more important than an oil temp gauge.
