Does your car feel sluggish out of boost? On a slight incline going 45mph in 5th gear (5AT in Drive/ 2000RPM or so) do you have to push on the gas pretty hard to gain speed? I'll be in vacuum at about 5 and she's barely gaining any MPH.
Now, once it gets to around 3000RPM and still nearing boost it'll pick up, but damn... maybe I'm just getting used to it... but it feels slow as hell all the time out of boost and feels like it takes a good bit of pedaling to get her to go...

5th gear going 45mph @ 2000rpm, your car is gonna feel sluggish. We all know that power is linear on a SC'd car. That's the beauty of being a 6MT, just to a quick downshift to 4th or 3rd and the sluggishness is gone.

at 2k rpm, my turboed car is sluggish also. I so badly want a TT set up. maybe that will help it out a little. As for the sc'ed, i thought you had a lot more power in the lower end than you are talking about.

I know what you mean by the high gear / low RPM, of course not as much hp/tq there, but I think if I was next to a stock coupe at the above mph/gear/rpm and we both floored it (staying in 5th) he'd pull with no problem (although I'd catch him later?)
I was just wanting to see if everyone gets into boost just to feel that "stock" pull in higher gears.
Leaving it in D and giving it some gas, still in vacuum, always makes the car downshift (may be the SGP VB that makes it eager to downshift) but I just feel no power cruising anymore!... when I get on it everything is great again

I said it feels more sluggish. So do I think it should feel different than a NA G? - Not necessarily. I've been boosted for over a year and this has been going on for awhile, just wanted to hear some opinions.
Maybe the car's acceleration differs from a stock G because of the tuning done on the vacuum side? Do they mess with that side of it?

problem is you're in 5th gear
try downshifting a gear or two and you'll get power
other thing contributing to the issue is the 5AT does not lock up the tq converter below 3400 rpms. So you will not get the full power to the wheels until it locks up. Despite the engine actually working hard, the transmission will not allow the power to transfer through to the driveshaft until the tq converter locks.
Also, there is a slight lag while waiting for the 5AT to lock up the tq converter
final drive swap to shorter gearing might help

I don't have any FI, but maybe its just relativity, where you feel so much more power while you're in boost that when you're not, it just feels sluggish. Add that on top of being low mph, low rpm and in high gear. Its like when I went from driving my G back to my stock integra. That car used to feel a certain way when I drove it, but when I got back into it, I'd mash the pedal and the car would make all this noise and not go anywhere.

What sentry said is what I was trying to say earlier. Your only problem is being in 5th gear @ 2000rpm going 45mph. Any car would feel sluggish. Just downshift and you should be okay.
trq converter has nothing much at all to do with it . Think about it....5th gear is the overdrive gear and is made for 50 mph or faster . If you kick it down to 3rd where you should be going up a hill going 45 mph , the rpms will jump and power will be had

See, I'm not thinking I need 3rd gear power. I'm not participating in a rally race seeing who an hill climb the fastest. I have a 5AT, so "where I should be" is chosen for me 90% of the time until I decide to play. The rest of the time I chose to burn my $3.50 slowly.
I really hate sounding like a noob, when I'm not (the 'Driver or FI). The question really wasn't about power itself... as I have plenty of that, but rather the amount of pedal pressure needed to get that power...
As I stated, I realize high gear, low RPM, isn't your prime racing gear. But I'm not looking for boost at all - I actually mention vacuum more than boost.
I figured since my MRS with a whopping 100whp can get up the hill quicker and with less pedal pressure in 5th gear than my 400whp G35, something was wrong.
