I've been seriously thinking about getting a procharger for my g but I hate dealing with smog. My old eclipse wouldn't even pass the sniffer, I basically had to swap out everything back to stock except the turbo and the exhaust and it managed to pass. In CA so many things don't pass the visual - bov, intercooler, the place I went to was even a bit sketchy about my ic piping.

I don't see how clearing a code has anything to do with smog. (Unless your state uses a different method).

Code or no code, the outcome of the sniffer test will still be the same.

No sniffer tests in TX, they just plug into the ODBII port.

Be careful about admitting to FELONIES on INET, especially giving your location.

States have a finders fee where the whistle blower can get up to $2500 for a successful conviction. Makes a great part time job!

Shops which give out fake passes can be fined $10,000 per occurance.

I don’t remember reading anyone indicating “fake passes” or any funny business… the people that have indicate they have no problem passing are in states that have less stringent emission standards – it doesn’t mean they are doing anything illegal… ZaZa mentioned having a shop test for the heck of it (he’s not due for smog), just to see how it does.

We might be enthusiasts but we aren’t stupid, or criminals.
