I'd love to get some type of forced induction system on my car but don't have the $7-10K for the Greddy, Vortech, PE, etc.

Is there such a thing as a single turbo or supercharger setup for under $5000? Any good/bad experiences with one of these setups?

Thanks for any help,
Joe

The non-intercooled Stillen Supercharger setup will come in under $5k (Not including any installation labor).

Re: Turbo under $5000 ?!?!
So the installation and tuning would push it to around $6K or so? Anything for under $5K out the door?

Or maybe other mods would deliver the same results (e.g. flywheel/clutch, CAI, Z pipe). Opinions?

Re: Turbo under $5000 ?!?!
Unless you're planning on installing and tuning yourself I wouldn't plan on getting any serious power for under $5K...If you want real performance you have to pay to play...If forced induction or massive naturally apsirated power were cheap you'd see far more people in some bad *** street machines

Dont think i would go this route.... but dont forget about NOS. You can get all the bells and whistles for a grand or so. So, you can have speed on tap- for those few occassions you need to go crazy fast in a hurry. You can get all the safety features that are offered with any NOS systems. Just remember no amount of equipment will save ur engine from stupidity...
Dont squeeze to much if you go this route.
You can spend your left over money on wheels, flywheel, clutch and whatever else u desire.

Squeezing is a possibility...While I always recommend upgrading internals I suppose you don't necessarily need to with nitrous, depending on how big a shot you'd like to use...Just remember that nitrous is forced induction and air/fuel ratio is important, therefore tuning and dyno time is very important...I recommend the Edelbrock Victor kit, if you're going to squeeze, although NX and NOS have quality kits as well

The street price of a Vortech SC is around $4300. You can probably find someone who will install it for you for $750.

Regarding superchargers and other FI systems, will it void the factory warranty?

Re: Turbo under $5000 ?!?!
kiss goodbye portions of the warranty...

depending on your relationship w/ your dealer, and, their willingness to extend themselves to you, you will retain basic coverages of the basic non-powerplant items.... (the clicking seat is not related to the TT you have setup...)

Re: Turbo under $5000 ?!?!
Voiding a warranty and aftermarket parts do not go hand in hand. A dealer cannot void a warranty just because aftermarket parts are on a car.

The Magnus-Moss Warranty Act protects you. So if a dealer tells you that they are voiding you warranty, check with a lawyer. If the dealer cannot prove that your aftermarket part caused the damage to the vehicle or adversly effected the emissions system then they cannot void a warranty.

The Greddy kit is 6k with the intercooler from a couple of sites. I saw the PE kit for $6800.

Re: Turbo under $5000 ?!?!
There is a warranty available with the Stillen unit. I want to say it's like $260 for 3yr/36K. Basically fills in and covers what the supercharger voids....

I'm guessing most people will wait until after their warranty expires to go big though...
