Hey,
I have searched this forum, as well as a few other forums regarding CARB Exemption on Forced Induction Set ups. With some research, I found that the Stillen Stage 2 SC is CARB legal, as well as the Vortech.
Now the part that is puzzling me is the Greddy TT Kit and the Turbonetics ST Kit. In the stickied thread, "Forced induction for noobs", it says that the Turbonetics ST is catted for us emission guys; does this mean its CARB Exempt, and has a EO #?
Also, on the Greddy TT Kit, on this website LINK it says the Greddy kit is legal, and has EO #s. Is this old and untrue, or is it true? If so, can you help me find out for what years its valid for...
Thanks guys

I dont even think it really matters for the cali guys. look at some of the biggest turbo shops in the states. All right in Cali. Everyday they push out lots of illegal cars and no one seems to mind.
I'd just call one of the shops on these boards that do the turbo kits and ask them what they tell all their customers. They must say it doesnt matter. Why else would soo manye people drop 10-20k$ if they thought they'd get impounded.

I just talked to a JWT Tech on the phone, and he had to say that the TT Kit is still pending exemption. He say's he can't say for sure if it will pass right now but they are still trying.
Also their POP Charger kit is only good up too 2005 for CARB Exemption; he did say that they are going to send a later year car to be tested.
Also, I spoke to a Greddy Tech, and he said the kit is NOT legal. He also said they are working on it aswell, but "cold start emissions is hard".

Turbo kits for our cars will simply not pass the cold start test. When you test your car (FULLY TEST) in California part of the test is a Catalyst Warm-Up Test.. Turbo kits fail to warm up the catalysts in the X amount of time. Reason for this is simply because our cars arnt designed for turbo. We'll have to do a new air injection system or something else to warm up the CATs first.. then you'll need to get the air injection system to pass.. the cost just keeps rising and by the end of the day no one is going to pay $10-14,000 for a TT kit alone, making CARB legal Turbo Gs hopeless =( As much as I'd LOVE to see a TT kit pass.. I've just accept that its not going to happen and put together the cleanest, sleeperest setup I can think of =)
Superchargers are different because the turbines arnt driven by exhaust gases and pressure but by a mechanical belt instead.. allowing engine warm and running conditions 100% like stock until boost.

Many of the cars they work on are from other states. And over there, these kits aren't illegal.
"I don't think it matters for the Cali guys" is a big overstatement

Confusing Answers also
Well, he's not the only one confused, because I've contacted different shops and at least one shop told me they could put an APS S/T on my coupe and it would be CARB legal w/ a sticker and everything.
