if they are RC injectors, i would bet money thats what is wrong.

thats the reason that i wont use RCs. i have had to pull out 80% of the ones i have ever installed..

If you have Cipher, you can turn a cylinder off, 1 at a time and try to see if you get to 1 that does not change the firing pattern. Then you know something is wrong with that cylinder.

Knock at idle is not likely (not possible?).

for real though, it prob is something really small like coil or injector.. so test them first before you rip the block apart..

It's the injectors that came with the greddy kit-- maybe I will give it to my shop to take a look at- I was for sure it was a motor build...

Though I still REALLY wanna do that in the near future anyway. It's so past due.

There is no clanking or smoke which is throwing me off- there is a rancid smell pure gas smell in the cabin though.

I would get a compression and leak down test to determine if it is the motor.

times two on the compression test.....check your water level and if its disappearing most likely you blew a head gasket which would be weird for the vq motors. so the sound is like a subie correct?

I have a couple of ?s

what psi are you running? Did you up the boost more than what you are tuned for?

Did the sound start after or during a hard run? Do you have a data log of your run if so to see if you had a boost spike.

Is the sound the same when fully warmed up?

Any oil on the coilpacks (drenched) or broken SP tips?

Is there a milky residue on the oil cap when removed?

Any debris in your coolant?

Can you tell what side the knocking is coming from?

jack up the car and see if there are any leaks or something loose you can't see from above.

These are the things I checked when my engine went. Hopefully it's not something serious, but it does not sound good. It's happened to me twice I know the feeling.

These things you can check in your driveway

Jeremy me and my car will be paying you a visit in a couple of months when I move back to the east coast.

those are RC 440cc injectors... one of mine was stuck brand new out of the bag... fixed now, but it's your likely culprit.
